I did a paint and sip thing this week as an end of year activity with my broader team.

The first image is what we were aiming for, the second is the one I made - which I think is better. I ran out of time to add trees on the fat shore or more reflections of the mountains

Montpellier was also fun. We stayed just outside the old city, but it was within walking distance. A great base to go and explore other parts of the south of France.

Corsica is beautiful. Definitely an island I want to go and spend more time in. Not sure when that's going to happen though, but one day I'll get back there, spend a whole lot more time exploring. One week wasn't enough.
A street in the Citadel in Bastia. Paved in smooth, rectangular stones, the street is only wide enough for one car. The buildings are a red or pale yellow, and some have pot plants outside their front door. Some of the doorways appear to be shuttered, and some windows have open shutters. The street ends in the distance, looking out to the sea. Across a marina in Calvi, full of small yachts, are mountains with their tops covered in snow, being kissed by some white fluffy clouds. The sky otherwise is a bright blue, which is reflected in the water. In the close foreground is a solitary palm tree. A road briefly appears and then curves away in a pine forest. You can see stone mountains covered in more trees in the distance. The closest mountain has cloud obscuring the top, and the sky is otherwise grey with clouds.

I really like Pisa. We spent a couple of nights there and avoided the Tower during the day and went there at sunset instead. Much more manageable. Also, they have an incredibly old and amazing botanic garden.

Another cool thing in Florence and Pisa is that there are these little hook type things in the walls that are personalised into monsters. Definitely one of my favourite things to find.
Jutting out from a stone wall is an iron nail about 2cm across (maximum), where the head of the nail has been customised into a face. This one has ears, a pointy nose and an open mouth, a lot like a small dragon Pointing out from a stone wall, this iron nail of about 2cm wide maximum has the end cut into a face. There are ears coming out of a pointed head, two eyes, a nose and a mouth Sticking out of a stone wall is a twisted iron hoop that is held in place by a twisted iron dragon. This dragon has pointed horns, a snout, two eyes and a slightly open mouth.

My absolute favourite museum in Florence is the Opificio delle pietre dure. It's quiet, it's stunningly beautiful and the talent that these artisans had was incredible.

I just want to post some pretty photos as a timeline cleanse because shit out there is pretty bad right now.

These two are from Rome. I used to use the stained glass one in family chats to make me look like I had a halo. It amused me. I cannot remember which church it is from.
Looking directly up at a church ceiling we are looking at a circular, stained glass window that looks like the sun surrounded by yellow, purple and blue. The centre of the window is a yellow sun, with rays leading towards the edges. The next few concentric circles are various shades of yellow. The last two are purple and then blue. There are four internal lights pointing towards the window. There is a ring of sunlight around the edge of the window, and the rest of the image is dark. Trevi fountain in Rome. Not pictured the mass of people around the fountain. There are a few people in the foreground of the image, standing in front of the turquoise water of the fountain. Trevi fountain is made of pale grey stone and has water cascading over rocks. (from Wikipedia) The backdrop for the fountain is the Palazzo Poli, given a new façade with a giant order of Corinthian pilasters that link the two main storeys. Taming of the waters is the theme of the gigantic scheme that tumbles forward, mixing water and rockwork, and filling the small square. Tritons guide Oceanus's shell chariot, taming hippocamps. In the centre, a robustly-modelled triumphal arch is superimposed on the palazzo façade. The centre niche or exedra framing Oceanus has free-standing columns for maximal light and shade. In the niches flanking Oceanus, Abundance spills water from her urn and Salubrity holds a cup from which a snake drinks. Above, bas reliefs illustrate the Roman origin of the aqueducts. The Tritons and horses provide symmetrical balance, with the maximum contrast in their mood and poses.

The Space Hippies. They're focused on natural colours, mostly the light tan of natural cotton, with other highlights. They decorate their spaces with colour, plants, fibre craft and seem to be happy together.

The Space Capitalists. It's all dreary, always night. It doesn't look appealing. People seem to be at their worst.

Dr Williams and his anec-data aren't compelling here. He should know about the links between C-PTSD and body weight, and know that he's profiting from societal fat-shaming instead of helping people heal
