You know how every few years there's a video game that looks incredible, like it really pushes graphics technology forward, and everyone is so amazed that they don't notice until later that its actual gameplay is kinda rubbish? I feel like the Avatar series is that in movie form.

This thread perfectly lays out why locally made goods are necessarily expensive.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

This is so refreshing. It is sadly uncommon to see politicians clearly state their support for the LGBTIQA+ communities, even in so-called Australia.

If you support us, say so. Show your support in policies and electoral promises

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Every time an actress vanished from screens in the 80s or 90s I just assume she said no to Harvey Weinstein and got blacklisted.

It's because the GOP hates functional government and have fantasised for years about dismantling the entire apparatus.

The guards ran away while the merchant broke down crying from the guilt he'd kept inside for decades, confessing everything, then the party all left without revealing their deception. It was hilarious and effective, always a good combination in a RPG.

The witch's cat familiar climbed down the chimney and reconn'd the house, with the druid/monk's animated pine cone buddy riding it like a tiny horse, providing opposable thumbs when required. They unlocked the back door, then the sorcerer used an illusory disguise to mimic the poltergeist.

It's fun running a TTRPG where the players are doing their very best to avoid being murder hobos. To put a poltergeist to rest, they needed to get past a merchant's hired guards and question him about the location of a long-ago stolen valuable. It was achieved via magic cat and ghost impersonation.
