You’re not crazy. The anti-trans movement is not organic; it was funded by pedophilic billionaires like Jeffrey Epstein who backed a network of conservatives to accuse the same people they were sexually abusing of being the real danger. @madycast.com exposes the truth in our in-depth report.

Casually transparently evil. Judicial independence is critical to democracy.
Smith: "I wish I could direct the judges”

"She added that she recently wrote to Mark Carney proposing more provincial involvement in judicial appointments “so that we start choosing judges in Alberta that reflect the values of how we want them to operate here.”"

Ponder that for a moment. 🎁

While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.

Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.

I also learned today that a group of chickadees is called a ‘banditry’ and how cute is that?

Saw a new bird for my backyard. I thought it was some type of wren at first, because of the way it was carrying its tail feathers. Doesn't have a wren's beak, though. Merlin app identifies it as a White-throated Sparrow.

Today, trans advocates “are back at the Court of King’s Bench in Calgary. They plan to argue that Alberta’s law is a criminal prohibition [an area of exclusive federal power], rather than one focused on health care under the province’s Health Professions Act.”

DreamHaven in Minneapolis is where I discovered Pratchett. I’ve always been grateful to sign there, but now I’m gonna be proud as hell too.
Remember the other day when I was saluting my friend Greg Ketter, owner of Minneapolis’ DreamHaven Books? This is him the following day. Greg will never say this, so I will — now is a great time to buy books from DreamHaven. Support Americans who stand up vs. 🧊. dreamhavenbooks.com

“Being an ai ‘artist’ is like going thru a drive thru & saying you’re a chef.” So sick of hearing this bs. 🙄 It’s more like waiting for your neighbor to have DoorDash dropped off on their porch & then telling someone else to go steal it for you while you sit on the couch & decide your a 4 star chef.

I think we’ve got better and more culturally-varied street food than I could have imagined, cool jackets galore, and drugs that make us think we’re really fast and strong before they kill us.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Thanks to everyone who checked it out. And get ready for the KS later this year.

Remember, newbie aurora enthusiasts— while the lights tonight will be strong enough in many locations to see with the naked eye, you’re gonna want to point a camera at them regardless, as cameras can pick up waaaay more color.

Most of the time *only* cameras can detect them, including phone cameras

Here’s a thread explaining why we’re all hyped:

The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for."
I'm gonna say this with all the kindness in my heart: you aren't going to survive if you don't let your life have room for other things.

This is not a short term fight where we can just go 24/7 and then it will be over. We've got YEARS ahead of us. Take a break. Hydrate. Go bake something. Breathe.

Below is a link to a petition to prevent this that you can sign if you're Canadian. If you're not Canadian, please boost this.

This year, I'm looking to raise money for an organization that helps trans people in Alberta.

If you know of any orgs helping, please let me know below.
