My personal curse is that some of my favorite movies are The Princess Bride and A Muppet Christmas Carol, yet my wife had horrible nightmares about the puppets in both as a child and thus refuses to watch them.

merry christmas to everyone on this web site but especially to the folks who find it as funny as i do that Mark Cuban is currently crashing out and asking /Robert Reich/ of all people if he understands the economic effects of strained labor/capital/consumer relationships in the medical sector.
Have you looked at why RiteAid and thousands of independent pharmacies went out of business, and Walgreens was broke before being bought ? Do you understand who creates the horrific economics for non captive pharmacies ? Of course you don't.

Spend that same energy pushing to break up insurers
After buying it for $18.8 billion, Walgreens' new private equity owner has eliminated paid holidays for all hourly workers on Christmas and New Year's.

Last year, Walgreens had a CEO-to-Worker pay gap of 410 to 1.

Corporate greed that would make even Scrooge blush.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

mark thomas young talks about this in his work. orthodox view of maintenance is keeping an artifact's original design stable and intact, by working to repair it when it diverges from intended design

In a loose folksy way I’ve started to believe that shit falls apart approximately every 80 years because the generation that knew True Horror dies off and the young folks left don’t comprehend the stakes.
I blame the passing of the WW2 generation. Some people didn't have a grandparent who would kick their ass for talking up Nazis and it shows.

The way tech companies constantly do stuff that nobody asked for really tells you a lot about their bigger ideology. They tell themselves that you will like it over time. What they mean is you’ll learn to endure it, or you’ll give up. quality of UI is not actually anywhere on their radar
new iOS update is sleek and also defaults in Music to “you must want songs transition as they would on a dance floor.” so many people will wonder why they can’t just listen to an album. Apps > Music > Song Transitions > toggle off.
