Just in case any journalist or editor reading this is tempted to minimize Trump's Reiner post because it's a "showbiz thing" and "real" stories are happening: No. It's a President thing and a decency thing, and if you don't understand that those things are newsworthy, you are failing in your duties.

I'll have something to say about Rob and Michelle Reiner in the morning on Vulture, but nothing tonight. It's a tragedy on so many levels. Including political and cultural. I can barely process it.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

This is such a dweeby answer but nothing in the 101 years since its release brings as much joy to me as Sherlock Jr.

Adventureland, Defending Your Life, Little Darlings, A Christmas Story, and Better Off Dead are all up there for me, as well.
was recently asked my favorite comedies, which is a good question, and I'm not sure the answer. I think Big Lebowski is probably number 1, but after that, idk? Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Best in Show were the other two that came to mind. So let's hear your faves

I understand that a lot of folks have been misled by fear-mongering and powerful regressive voices but it’s still astonishing to me that so many have fallen for the idea that oppressively policing other people’s gender identity and expression could in any way be part of an enlightened future.

The fact that the Trump Administration continues to enjoy such broad support from big businesses and rich assholes while 69% of Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy really drives home that we live in an oligarchy rather than a democracy.
“Only 31% of U.S. adults now approve of how Trump is handling the economy, the poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds.”

Any other President with these numbers would be buried, but his policies maintain elite support because of broad agreement with their aims.
Trump's handling of the economy is at its lowest point in AP-NORC polling
A new AP-NORC poll finds President Donald Trump’s approval on the economy has fallen substantially since he reentered the White House.

One of the biggest problems with prestige journalists is that they don’t engage with critiques of their work. You can’t reach them, you can’t talk with them, they won’t answer questions. They won’t discuss their methodology or shortcomings thereof. They silo themselves.

Remember that Trump and his propagandists tried to gaslight you into believing there was no percentage in taking on this fight, that it was hopeless. And a certain cadre of pundits tried to persuade you that Dems didn't dare discuss this in public.

Still not over yet but a big step forward.
