one thing i do remember is that the republican party, before it went MAGA, was too weak to keep MAGA from taking it over. remember trump steamrolling all of those guys and now he tells them what to do and the worst elements of his base are in charge. democrats seem that weak now too. no control

if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

notable that this is what the co-founder of Indivisible is saying
this isn’t going to just be a handful of angry posters trying to organize primaries, you’re going to see real organizational muscle behind this I think

We tried to show them after the last surrender. There's no sense in trying to convince them anymore. Primaries are the only path to a fighting opposition party now.

one serious problem i see that i am not clear how we solve is, probably 50% of the GOP voting base if not more is really not interested in being part of a democracy anymore. and the only alternative is guys who think democracy means finding common ground with those people

It would have been better to simply cave on day one than do this. how can you ask anyone to suffer through a shutdown ever again, if you can deliver *nothing*?

People are 100% going to spend that money on more immediate needs like food, rent, and utilities. Pre-ACA world shows the poorest Americans can and will cheap out on their own health insurance if given the option. We will shorten our own lives to avoid being taken in by such an obvious racket

I will admit that this is the single funniest outcome of us doing a Keep Politics Out Of Sports after a guy kneeled
Government is shut down. Chaos in airports. 42 million going hungry. 24 million face skyrocketing healthcare costs. Economy in turmoil. And the president of the United States is in the Fox broadcast booth calling plays for a football game.
