The "violent criminal illegal alien" that agents were pursuing when they killed Alex Pretti has been in the U.S. for two decades. He had a single misdemeanor conviction for disorderly conduct (domestic assault) eight years ago that was expunged from his record. He did not have a deportation order.
Agents were pursuing an immigrant when they killed Alex Pretti. Now, he shares his story.
"I was there. I saw everything," Jose Huerta Chuma, who remains in hiding, told CBS News.

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

This is a MUST-READ affidavit.

This eyewitness to Alex Pretti’s murder — who is too scared to even go home because she doesn’t trust federal agents — directly refutes what the feds are saying happened today:

This is the first example I’ve seen of an American government using AI to meaningfully misrepresent actual events with the intent to deceive the public. We are at Stalinesque levels of propaganda.

“The ICE motor pool appeared almost totally full during the action, suggesting that they weren’t staging from any secondary location. It is possible that this action effectively trapped a large number of ICE agents at their headquarters.”

Tobias Kinter Bencosme, 44, of Miami, FL, is an ICE Supervisory Detention Agent who participated in the illegal home invasion and kidnapping of an elderly American citizen in St Paul, MN on 1/18/2026. Bencosme dragged the Hmong grandfather outside in the frigid air wearing only boxers and a blanket.

as a parent of small children, once you realize that little kids don’t process toys all over the ground and not picked up as “i made a mess” but as “i had a fun day playing” it becomes clear just how far gone they are. they can’t even admit there’s a problem to address. they are in denial

Yeah, on the topic of folks who helped the US, at great cost, and to whom we own a debt of gratitude. Between the Danes, Hmong, and Afghans, why would anyone trust us at our word after this.
And at the same time federal agents are ripping Hmong men out of their St Paul homes.
The Danes answered our call after 9/11 and lost 43 soldiers in Afghanistan, which is a casualty rate equal to our own relative to their population.

The whole thing isn’t just enraging, it’s dishonorable in the extreme

I’ve heard young women facing down threatening ICE officers on open dispatch channels in ways you wouldn’t believe. The officers announcing they’re going to be arresting and jailing the observer, and the observer, voice shaking, calmly reasserting their constitutional right over and over.

It's cool that these guys just use pepper spray casually now, against people who are wholly within their rights, without a moment's hesitation. Several shots of them using it as they climb into their cars and drive away, not even a pretense of urgency or need. Just a parting "fuck you" to them.
This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.
