The AI bubble is on the brink of popping vs. they're rabidly building AI data centers in the midwest. The question is why build if the industry is collapsing? Because it's not. These guys are so rich, they don't care if it's not profitable, ATM. They're gunning for media and information control.

This part! As someone who has barely seen any tv or movies I always appreciate finding out what actor or show something is in alt text.

Or just knowing what it is you’re trying to show, in general!

PLUS I loooove alt text on a selfie. I love knowing how my beautiful friends see themselves.
If you don't use ALT out of consideration for people who are visually impaired, do it because half the time your image does not on its own clearly convey (even to those without impairment) whatever the hell you think it conveys.

fundamentally the problem Chicago has is that it creates a massive amount of economic value for the region but cannot capture it with proper taxes due to municipal fragmentation (and the entire reason suburbs exist is to deprive cities of this revenue)
low property taxes in a desirable area are a handout to banks bc people purchase property based on the maximum monthly payment they can afford, and so low property taxes drive up property values and in turn banks make more money from mortgages

Penn State recently negotiated James Franklin's buyout to a $9 million lump sum, source confirms to @theathletic.com.

Franklin's buyout was ~ $49 million through 2031, but would've been offset by his next job. Lump sum saves $, and both sides can move on.

spouse got into the study and enrollment was incredibly swift and smooth; one of the best trial rollouts I've seen in terms of logistics and ease of use!
Just heard about this huge (49 state) long covid trial using tirzepetide (aka zepbound) one of the newer glp meds. It’s run by researchers at scripps, funded by the eric & wendy schmidt foundation. It looks like it is still enrolling, fully remote participation:

Every traffic death is a political choice, not an accident
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.
