Oh I see. It’s one of *those* ‘ceasefires’ where only one side is expected to actually ceasefire. Got it.

signing a bunch of LGBTQ+ protections into law but then vetoing two other ones bc they would cost health insurance companies 0.00001% in yearly profits is just so Newsom

Newsom has signed these queer rights bills:
- AB 82 / SB 497 (Medical privacy)
- AB 1084 / SB 59 (Name/Gender changes)

Being in a still kinda new-to-me part of the region I sometimes force myself to drive around without an app to help me learn my way around
grenadine.bsky.social
The state is so big that they successfully clickbait me into clicking on articles about how there’s likely to be snow, big rain, or northern lights in MI and of course it’s nowhere near here
grenadine.bsky.social
Michigan is so huge! It would take ten hours to drive to the opposite corner of it from where I live.

Some of that is going around water and some of that is simply Large

I did this idea as a video.

I can’t watch it without crying (and I’m almost crying thinking about it now) but I’m really glad I made it.

Carla Bozulich’s cover of “The Grand Tour,” but instead of being about someone who left the narrator, it’s me showing you my feral cat’s favorite spots
grenadine.bsky.social
Sooo many but the Geraldine Fibbers’ outstanding alt country cover of The Grand Tour has been on my mind.

They didn’t have a full version of it in the app I used to make Doodles’s memorial video, so I used the Aaron Neville version, which is also really good.

She is a personal trainer and when I was like “I haven’t eaten in hours, do you mind if I run in the Qdoba on the way to the pharmacy” she was like “Don’t eat that shit” and took me to her house and made me food.

Extremely on-brand mix of feedback and love

Miss Major is an incalculable loss for the trans community and a reminder that our movement is always led by Black trans women. Always.

May we all prove to be worthy students of her example.

I was just telling a story about the time my cellphone died when I was at the ER, and I ended up having my childhood friend’s mom come pick me up because I still knew their landline number

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Sharing this mostly as a “damn they’re all over the place.” Going into more $$ communities to target landscapers, in this case. Just awful

Sounds like ICE was/is out in Plymouth today.

PLEASE BE ADVISED
! My daughter just came home from getting “smokes” and it was packed with landscaping companies who were hiding. Apparently, ICE is in Metro Detroit going into the Latino communities!! #ICEUpdate, #MetroDetroit, #FuckICE, #FuckDHS, #FuckNoem, #FuckHoman, #FuckTrump, #PlymouthMI

So the Geneva location of American Science & Surplus managed to survive closure of the business's main Park Ridge location and the warehouse, bought out by longtime employees last month and kept open, only for somebody to crash their car into it today.

Sucks to see rental postings in STL City discriminating against housing voucher holders and there's nothing you can do about it anymore. (The city's ordinance prohibiting source of income discrimination was preempted by a new state law this past session.)
