the eternal battle between “mom can’t and shouldn’t do as much as she used to” versus “mom hates being idle more than anything in the world”
this year the mission is to keep it low-key and take as much pressure off my mom as possible, so my brother is making chicken and dumplings while my mom said she'd only make a pumpkin or apple pie — but there's currently cranberry sauce cooking on our stove so she's breaking contain.
