When I started first grade there was a big ring of printed years on the wall ending with 2000, which is when we would graduate high school. I distinctly remember looking around the room and going “this is bullshit, that is way too long”

This is just unforgivable theft of joy

You really need to read this whole thread/song Colin put together. Incredible stuff.
Me and me cousin, one Arthur McBride,
One morning went walking along Lake Street's side
Now mark well what followed in that wintertide
As the cold Friday morning was dawning

Wanna know another point we passed normalizing what shouldn't be accepted from someone who runs a country from Trump? Accepting his Truth Social screeds as official government communication. His own social media network no one's on but his cult. Why does the world bow at his garbled mandates on it?

The funniest thing about today is the number of urban planning guys insisting history doesn't matter. Why are so few places genuinely walkable & what does that have to do with race riots and red lining?

L.A. Metro, the main transit operator for Los Angeles, just voted to oppose SB 79, a law legalizing the construction of housing near stations. You can't make this stuff up. Legislators should remember this the next time they come to Sacramento begging for more money.

Part of why I only let my cat outside on a leash is so he won't murder all the wildlife. But when a possum jumps onto our fence right next to us???

Luckily my cat had no idea what to do when the possum just… stood there.

My partner was just telling me that Minneapolis’s Aquatennial Parade started in 1940 as a way to give the public a diversion from remembering Bloody Friday six years before, which was when cops shot 69 picketing truck drivers (killed two of them). Sure didn’t learn that one in school.

DHS filed an answer today in the lawsuit Los Angeles Press Club filed against them for violently assaulting journalists, legal observers and protesters.

Basically two dozen pages that look like this.

And just like that, the US has left the World Health Organization.

This continues to be the best post ever made on Bluesky and every Democratic politician should follow this advice or fucking resign.
thank you for asking! if I ran Chuck Schumer's account, I wouldn't say anything unless it contained one of the following:

1. details about how Chuck Schumer is helping
2. details about something the person reading the post could be doing
3. any other kind of helpful information at all
Not trolling you. What would you post if you were running his account?

In case you missed it: One of the ICE observers was pulled out of her car by CBP, who used facial recognition on her.

Three days later, she learned her TSA-Pre clearance had been revoked.
This ICE observer had her TSA-Pre-check revoked.
