oh HEY peeps -- Cold Magic at $2 on Kindle. Book one of my Afro-Celtic post-Roman regency icepunk fantasy adventure trilogy, with Phoenician spies, well-dressed men, revolutionary women, and (of course) lawyer dinosaurs.
Oooh! Ooh, Cold Magic, the first in Kate Elliott's Spiritwalker trilogy, is on $2 sale on Amazon! I am not a bit exaggerating when I say these books helped save my sanity, I was re-reading them when the hurricane hit and in the aftermath they gave me a wonderful place to escape to.

Going to build a sci-fi religion around this dog, who is clearly the reincarnation of a galactic emperor.
Some of those dogs at the dog show are just obscene abominations unto the lord.

But also maybe they should ruin his life?

A guy asking Epstein for advice on how to sexually harass a junior colleague knows exactly what Epstein was and was clearly OK with it. I am frankly OK with someone ruining his life.

Evidently it ought to have happened decades ago.
Larry Summers is 70. Firing him is not ruining his life.

Me grocery shopping today: well I want to eat chili this week but I think I have a bunch in the freezer; I’ll just buy stuff for sides

Would anyone like to guess how many servings of chili I have in the freezer

This whole thread.

“Oh no, someone might eat food!”

Good. That’s good.

“They might buy something they like.”

Cool.

“They might get a treat!”

Also cool.
There's something deeply disturbing about EBT/SNAP hate to me. Like just truly bone blanching shit.

(good thing I was already planning on going downtown this weekend; I'll have to add another stop so I can prove to them I still exist)

It’s October 1, and so a bunch of my winter prep activities popped up on my yearly to-do list, but boy it feels weird to do things like ‘check stock of ice melt and order more if needed’ when it’s going to be 80 this weekend

this may have labeled my home state as new jefst, but at least it's not the fuzzy boundaryless mess happening in Appalachia that makes me worry it's falling into another dimension
My goto is to ask LLMs how many states have R in their name. They always fail. GPT 5 included Indiana, Illinois, and Texas in its list. It then asked me if I wanted an alphabetical highlighted map. Sure, why not.
