Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.

I am begging Democratic leadership to recognize that funding and legitimizing your authoritarian opponent’s secret police is a bad idea.

This should not be a difficult concept.

The irony shouldn't be lost on anyone that during the George Floyd uprising there were 104 instances where cars were driven through protests - leading to 2 deaths - and how ICE has weaponized anxieties around an explicitly right wing tactic to justify every agent firing a gun in the last few months.
interesting! here's a video i took yesterday of federal agents ramming community members with their car

theres so much horrible shit about the murder of renee good, but there is something deeply terrifying about the way everyone from media to politicians have erased her wife from the story. ive seen far more mention of her late husband than her wife who was sitting next to her when she was murdered

Again, what ICE does EVERY DAY is devastate relationships and destroy people. This is their job. Rage for Renee needs to not mark her murder as especially egregious because of her citizenship status. Rather, this was an escalation of force in the defense of a massive project of ethnic cleansing.

the problem with this idea is that Democrats also love to use the ICE/DHS machinery, as evidenced by them happily funding & supporting & employing it since it was created post-9/11. maintaining a domestic force to suppress protest + protect class interests is a bipartisan project, & always has been.
Who will be the first member of Congress to introduce legislation named after Renee Good that abolishes DHS?

Framing that ICE agents just don't have enough training is shit. This presumes they'd be fine if you just gave ICE more money and training. They won't.

Abolish ICE.

This is a different Chicago vigil than the one we just attended. With hardly any notice, several happened across the city today:
Crowd size has swollen to maybe at or around a hundred or so. They plan to have some speakers for the cameras, then blow their whistles in unison at 8:00.

CW: I watched the video. You don’t have to. An armed, masked man grabbed her door handles to forcibly enter the car. When she turned the car to drive away, a second man standing next to her car started firing. He continued shooting as she attempted to flee, walking casually, like a guy on vacation
It's so fucking convenient that they get to "fear for their lives" anytime they want to absolve themselves of anything and when we actually fear for our lives because of them and do anything a scared person would do it's justification for our death.

And they’ll say they can’t be held accountable because when they pulled the trigger they were afraid for their lives. Their lives which they spent serving an ideology of fear, a machine of fear, a holistic regime of fear. A culture-spanning engine of the ugliest and most dishonest fears there are.
Any one of us could be shot or kidnapped because an ICE agent doesn’t like the look of us. Are you prepared to be murdered in cold blood while “news” sources repeat the claim you were “weaponizing your vehicle” trying to leave your driveway? They want you to accept that. They want to make it normal

Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.
