but also if you tell parents/youth that you've made their kid OD proof by pumping them with opioid antagonists people will have a false sense of security. like if you worry that 'safe supply' as a term leads young people to think opioids are safe (dubious premise), what do you think this will do???
it's easy to forget this in the fentanyl era, but ODs can happen from many substances - a "vaccine against overdose" doesn't exist

and if you've taken away their drug of choice w/o their consent, they're probably going to be reckless w/ something they're less familiar with

holy shit, an accurate legal critique of LLMs. LLMs don't reason because they're just stitching together plausible-looking sentences indifferent to the content

I would rather have a world where we all trust each other and accept that a few people will take advantage of it than a world where folks have to perform disability constantly in order to get the help they need. Let kids have an extra 30 minutes on the test, jesus fucking christ

Actually, the likelihood is 100%. In US jurisprudence, accused people are innocent until proven guilty. Hegseth's victims were not proven guilty; they were not even tried. Therefore they were ALL, to the last man, legally innocent. Hegseth ordered the murders of several dozen innocent men.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

No, precarity is the right word. It refers to precariousness as a general condition for a worker, or workers in general. It has a specific use.

I think the Right's assault on higher ed is really about this kind of discretion. They want to dissolve or supplant professional jurisdiction over what kinds of claims are seen as empirical or authoritative.
Standards like "use evidence" and "make a good argument" are ultimately always down to instructor discretion, right? These aren't math problems with binary truth values. In a political environ where admin bends over backwards to please students, aren't these standards just as vulnerable?

If the Venezuelan sailors were enemy combatants, then the 2nd strike is a war crime.

If the Venezuelan sailors weren’t enemy combatants, then both strikes are criminal murder.

It’s that simple.

The "campus free speech types are hypocrites" line of commentary is very well-worn, so I won't belabor the point much further. But it feels worth noting that *unions* are the organizations actually fighting for freedom of speech on many college campuses...
