haha you are right on, they are both!

thank you i feel pretty proud of how it came together! not something i could have pulled off a few months ago

anything i put about it into writing is gonna fail to be helpful in the same way i think 😅 it was very similar in content to so many videos i’ve watched before (step 1: draw circle(s) step 2: fill in drawing) but having someone skilled look at what i’m doing, clarify, etc. was really valuable to me!
butchanarchy.bsky.social
ahhh thank you!! i have felt sooo stuck with drawing as a skill for years and years. and then my friend explained the mechanics of sketching to me in-person for like an hour. and it’s unlocked so much for me since! i’m looser in my approach, it looks better, and it’s actually fun sometimes now wow 🤩

i showed the friend who gave me my life-changing lesson on sketching the first photo here and they went “ugh no *I* wanted to be the one to do the art for your future graphic novel 😤” 🥰🥰

i’m trying to challenge myself with figures. look at this foreshortening i’m proud 😊
a pencil sketch of a masculine figure pointing directly at the viewer. at a perspective where the hand occupies nearly half the space of the page that the rest of his figure does. another masculine figure, at an angle that suggests a jump or drop, off the ground with one knee tucked under them, their face tilting up and away from the viewer.

also i love these ladies 🥰
a small sketch drawing of a famous photo of two older fat women in bathing suits and big floppy hats talking to each other while standing with their feet in the ocean. one has a cane in her hand.

finally some more evocative sketching ;)
three pencil sketches on one paper, one of an open mouth, with someone else’s fingers pressing inside. another of a masculine person’s head, tilted back, eyes lidded, tongue out. and the third is a dog with its face held in a human’s hands, the hands are pressing up the dogs lips into the shape of a snarl

That does horrible things to a community, to people's ability to function. There are families who haven't left their homes in weeks, relying on networks of trust to bring them essentials. Kids staying home from school, fear about every unknown car on the block. And those fears are not unfounded.

Rogers Park and surrounding neighborhoods were hit hard by immigration enforcement activity over the weekend.

There's no competition here, but I want to name that the same heavy, violent, fast-moving abduction pattern has invaded the southwest side about three times a week for over a month now.

Liberals whenever they get vaguely active: “What the enemy *really* wants is the militant acts of direct resistance they spend most of their resources and air-time suppressing. Which is why we’re doing what they *hate*: being orderly and nice at this protest they wrote us a permit for.”
butchanarchy.bsky.social
Every time liberals decide to show up to protests again they start declaring that they are succeeding where the militant freaks (who never left off challenging regime) have failed: with the groundbreaking strategy of looking more “normal” and fun-loving in front of the cops.

Breaking: Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, the legendary transgender activist and veteran of the Stonewall uprising who dedicated her life to the liberation of trans people, especially Black trans women, has died at 78.

it’s been about two months since i last published an essay and right on time today arrives my ‘i never write anything i hardly write anything have i ever will i ever have anything relevant to say’ crisis. as reductionistic, extreme, and counterproductive as it always is.

Demanding administrative labor is how insurance companies profit. Providing it is how doctors get paid, which they do by pushing that labor off onto their patients in exchange for substandard wage-i mean…‘medical care.’

Pretty sure my insurance company is my boss and my doctor is my manager.

"Is it not telling that the conversation of abolition has been co-opted so strongly by liberal values that anything beyond nicely asking an abuser to volunteer to engage in an accountability process is accused of being one-in-the-same with State violence?”

Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

thank you for the sweet comments and encouragement, even the messages as simple as “we’d love to have you back here” are genuinely helpful for me in the place i’m in rn 🖤

cool for us that we are non-monogamous, mutually value autonomy, and are individually flexible and creative people, so big changes/differences in needs don’t mean the total rupture of our connection.

but yeah, considering certain losses, being at a distance, is still pretty gutting.

my partner and i are solid. so solid. we love the fuck out of each other and are really intentional about navigating questions like this together with love and respect. it’s just that we don’t always need the same things. which has the potential to be devastating, but isn’t wrong.
butchanarchy.bsky.social
honestly this is really helpful and validating to hear! i finally heard one other person here reflect this feeling a couple weeks ago and i was like “oh! it isn’t just me” 😮‍💨 and “fuck i have to get out of here” followed quickly upon.
butchanarchy.bsky.social
there’s a lot of unknowns and time to come before a move can happen. but it’s really possible that when i come i’ll have to come back without my closest friend and biggest source of support: my partner of many years. at least for a bit. so yeah, it’s just a really big choice to set on leaving.
butchanarchy.bsky.social
nuanced takes about the downsides of the city are not needed nor desired i lived there for 5 years and also my choice is made. it’s just a big and scary choice (in the context of my life, i’m not scared of the city lol) and maybe some genuine encouragement could be helpful?
