In the face of the Trump Administration’s cruelty and intimidation, Illinois is standing up for our people.

Today, we are once again taking Trump to court to hold his administration accountable for its unlawful tactics, unnecessary escalations, and flagrant abuses of power.

There Must Be Justice for Renee Good - The American Prospect
Minneapolis and Minnesota authorities can’t let the Trump regime suppress the truth. They can and should do their own investigation into the killing.

We can either let the abuses of Donald Trump's administration become our new normal.

Or we can pursue real justice, accountability, and transparency.

There are many ways of course Congress could limit or regulate ICE. For example, a law could require approval of the mayor or local authorities for any deployment of ICE or CBP to any community.

There's a little truth that tends to get missed is that a shooting war starts with the US suffering its biggest losses in history in terms of captured troops and equipment. The interdependency works both ways.

Almost all the things people are demanding Dems do, they can simply do themselves.

But they will not.

Because they are afraid. Which is why they're lashing out at Dems instead of Republicans.

Al Green has filed articles of impeachment 6 times since 2017, the last time being in December. None of these impeachment fetishists care to talk about that though cause those resolutions never went anywhere.

The fact that Sliwa still is against the billionaires shows quite well how making them pay their fair share is great politics.

Real populism is far more effective against fake populism than staid talk about the status quo.
this is the most incredible interview i’ve ever read. the aei guy tries so hard to get sliwa to trash mamdani and he simply won’t. he also brings up flaco (rip) unprompted.

Sorry, just to harp on this once again: Mamdani did not go negative against Dems, he even recommended *against* a primary challenge to a Dem Leader, he has not *once* gone negative against Dem Leadership despite some kerfuffles, and if you can't understand why he did all that, you're hopeless.

As it happens, I have experience with high-level government demands to stop an explosive, accurate story from running, and I also have experience with 60 Minutes spiking a story I was involved in, so I have thoughts about the travesty at CBS. If you want some journalism anecdotes, here are a lot:

Notes from someone who's withstood White House demands to stop an explosive story—and who once even had a 60 Minutes piece spiked

This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

you can tell JD’s been stewing in Euro/UK/Canada immigration discourse too much because no American’s primary complaint about undocumented immigrants is that they contribute too little to housing supply. You hear it more in countries with more public housing & fewer immigrants in construction

The Trump regime thought Kilmar Abrego Garcia was an easy target. Few would care, and it’d show that the facts don’t matter.

Some pundits and consultants insisted his innocence was irrelevant, the volk had spoken, it’d be dumb to fight.

Both proven wrong. Cracked the mystique, strengthened spines.
i think you can make a pretty credible case that taking a stand on abrego garcia gave the administration its first high profile, high salience defeat

So the president was like “hey Indiana, help me cheat in the next election,” and Indiana was all “no thanks,” but then the president went “you better disenfranchise a bunch of your citizens or I’ll illegally withhold money to hurt you,” and the Indiana Senate went “in that case, an even bigger no.”

No see if Dems had held out just a *little* longer Republicans would have abolished the filibuster & then used their newly minted powers to pass the bill that just failed, that among other awful things, would have banned trans-people from existing. Obviously a better outcome.
Yes, a much better outcome would have been to keep the government shut down indefinitely while planes fell out of the sky and the economy began to crash, that certainly is a simply scenario that it would be easy to manage
