A New Year's resolution, sort of:
- to do more things I currently enjoy (reading, gardening...)
- to revisit old hobbies (mini painting, embroidery, nature photography...)
- maybe post more about the above, to keep motivated, even if it's not perfect

Hopeful 2026 can be better than 2025

I know a lot of people are noting that they're in generally non political spaces where people are suddenly speaking out against ICE.

The crochet & knit crowd is part of it.

2 of the most popular patterns on ravelry rn are Liams hat (free with suggested donation link) and the red resistance hat

You can get details from this thread without watching any video
Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

This is a small immediate action you can take to support the businesses where the murder this morning happened. They were closed yesterday. Now they’re going to have to close today. Few of them can take multiple days without business.

I don’t think we should be using words like “innocent” or “US citizen” or “bystander” or things like that because — what if someone was an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record? Would they deserve this? No one deserves to be executed on the street in cold blood.

Do you know how hard it is to get cops to seemingly side with people shot by a bunch of officers
Minneapolis Police Chief O'Hara: "The video speaks for itself. We have identified this person - 37-year-old, white male, resident of the city. The only interaction that we are aware of with law enforcement has been for traffic tickets and we believe he is a lawfully gun owner with a permit to carry"

Frosty faces on the chickadees today. These tiny birds maintain a body temperature of 40C - that's a 70C gradient across only a few centimeters from the outside air to the bird's core! These little guys blow my mind. #birds 🌿

Hello! I once almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning. If you feel queasy and suddenly exhausted don’t lay down for “just a minute” - run outside, breathe fresh air. The space between “I feel a little weird, I guess I slept bad/ate something weird” and death is like ten minutes.
Carbon monoxide deaths spike during power outages. Many times, this is due to portable generators being placed too close to people's homes or run indoors. Make sure you have working carbon monoxide alarms. Run your generator outdoors, at least 20ft away from your home.

They want you to think that there is nothing in the past but shame so that people flinch away from examining history.

If you examine history, you will find good people. At every time in history, you will find them.

Maybe not enough, but they were there. You can be this generation's good people.

Tragically, we have seen incidents where people try to heat their homes using charcoal grills. Burning charcoal releases carbon monoxide. Never try to heat your home with a charcoal grill.

How delightful! children across history have loved funky critters 🦈🐟 Who else had a shark phase as a kid? [raises hand]
A great white shark, a hammerhead shark, a sawfish (actually a ray), and a swordfish in a had-colored copperplate engraving from “Bilderbuch für Kinder”, a German children’s encyclopedia published between 1790 and 1810 by Friedrich Justin Bertuch.
Coin for scale. 🦑
