Well, looks like I won’t be visiting the US anytime soon…
Citizens of countries including the UK and France will have to disclose the past five years of their social media history to visit the US even though they are covered by visa waiver schemes, under new proposals by the Trump administration.

holy shit this game looks amazing 👀
My little brother had an idea for a game while he was still just a kid in high school. 8 years later, he has managed to bring UNBEATABLE to reality through nothing but blood, sweat and tears, and with the incredible contributions of his teams at @dcellgames.com and @playstack.com

This sent me to Linda Fiorentino’s Wikipedia page. I was always intrigued by what happened to her career and remembered her reputation as being “difficult”. Reading it, I see where some of the “difficulties” may have stemmed from.

But I like most of the Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine stories I've read. Some of them were written by James Reasoner.
Of course on a series that long there are various eras of various quality. The first novels are cool in a screwball hardboiled bein, then it becomes more standard hardboiled, hhen it becomes... well, the '70s weren't kind to the series.

Mike Shayne had 50 hardcovers before transitioning to paperback originals for 27 additional novels, to which one should add the stories in the pulps and his own long-running Digest, Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine.
Is there another crime fictional series that has as many books as Parker’s SPENSER-Spenser is at over 50 and counting

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I usually don't share stuff w/o alt text but this reminds me strongly of Sheeler & is beautiful.

Alt: a 1-room schoolhouse stands alone in a wintry rural landscape, surrounded by simple fencing, under a blue sky swarmed w/clouds. Red accents on the building contrast w/grays & whites of the world.

Spotify is garbage on every count: Its treatment of artists, its ICE advertising, the CEO's investment in military AI, its leading role in the commodification and AI slopification of music, its terrible audio quality—you name it.

So I quit, and put together a complete guide to getting off Spotify:

Good morning. I just found a new "almost, but never happened" TV show for Max Overdrive: in 1976 Paramount bought the entire Nero Wolfe book series for a show to star Orson Welles as Wolfe. Sadly, it never came together but I guarantee you that Stark and Kasabian have seen it.

Just emailed Grove Atlantic with info and documentation on this scam, about which I've gotten two recent reports. It's being run by publishing scammer WestPage Press. Impersonating publishers with fake contract offers is a very common ploy for this type of scam.
