Nothing wrong with that! It just seemed to have a couple of (false?) indicators of some deeper meaning.

That was the part that hung me up; it’s such a concrete image that seems to point to a real-world context ultimately, I think, does not, which makes it kind of loose, incongruous symbolism.

I also enjoyed this movie a lot (glad I saw it in a theater) and was trying to figure of what it was really about; similarly, I came to "maybe not a lot." I think it's smart and nuanced enough for me to EXPECT something more to dig into, but maybe not. Still had a blast.

Yeah, it seemed like he was often discovering the movie as he went, which sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. I think my favorites- McCabe and The Long Goodbye- both adhere relatively closely to scripts, though. (I like The Player too, but that one never felt especially Altmanish to me.)
