This story in the first Indiana Jones collection seems to have crossed over into the world of Milton Caniff's Terry & the Pirates comic strip.

From an ambitious, big budget 80s Star Trek knockoff, that began as an adaptation of a forgotten 30s pulp hero, but they lost the rights mid-production. The soundtrack is Heart, Dalbello, and Vangelis. It bombed.
