I’ve been trying to parse why S3 of The Diplomat isn’t quite as good and also not quite working for me and I don’t know that I’ve figured it out but I did figure out that I’m not rooting for Kate anymore which might be my answer after all

This yarn was from this year’s February yarn club skein. The yarn club is so wonderful-bits of history with gorgeous yarn. Plus I get to try yarns and colors out of my normal box, and make wonderful things.

STOP THE PRESSES & look at this gorgeous cowl. Ok, but listen, this brilliant human tweaked a pattern to create her own & added beads bc she's a fiber goddess. A feast for your eyes.

Oh & yes, this is a monthly subscriber color. The blue strips were hand placed for extra oomph. 🧶

Fresh off the needles last night! Finished in between cooking different bits for the holiday meal. Learned the Icelandic Bind Off, and it is now my favorite bind off.
Fabulous yarn from @isasaxonists.bsky.social

Chances are, most platforms have support (free and paid) to help you switch platforms.

Ask yourself whether S*bst*ck's "social features" are worth supporting n*zis.
Can you all stop using Substack already? Don’t start none - won’t be none.
There is a certain kind of person who always does this:

1) Rude, snarky, dismissive reply
2) Gets angry when people are rude, snarky, and dismissive in return

This was so timely for me! A reminder to stay chill and have fun. I'm writing a scifi horror, extrapolating and imagining and catastrophizing about two dozen centuries into a specific kind of future. It's a lot 😅

Also, the bonus feature on Oleta Adams added yet another gem to my listening library!
So many visions of the future are already proven false. We didn't have Star Trek's Eugenics Wars in the 1990s. No flying cars in 2015 — sorry, Back to the Future.

In my latest newsletter, I explain why it's good for future visions to come with an expiration date.

Meanwhile in Canada...
I wasn't in French Immersion but I did take 8 years' worth, incl. 3 at IB level and 2 at uni. I can't help agreeing: the candidates' French was overall terrible, but in light of aspirations to lead a national party, it smacks of outright negligence.
Excellent thread btw
Last night's NDP French language debate exposed a party that doesn't seem serious about rebuilding after the departure of Jagmeet Singh

The party's livestrteam links were faulty, and candidates weren't particularly engaging, mainly because the collective level of French was atrocious🧵

I am anyone else
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

Ha! It me re: bad explainers but also—I kinda hate board games. Certain fam members totally soured me as a kid and I can never respark that initial interest. I’ve tried; we own 30+ games. I will play King of Tokyo though (I 💜 dice). And Qwerkle (patterns, yesss).
The rest you can have.
I used to think I didn’t like board games or a lot of games really, then I found out that I just don’t like having to learn how to play a game from people who are bad at explaining it. And because some don’t know, you can play a game very well AND be bad at explaining how to play the game.

Many years ago, I was feeling stressed by the state of the world and I started a Holiday Fairies thing where people sent me their wishlists and I publicized them to try to get everyone gifts for the holidays.

@shelflove.bsky.social skillfully took it over and made it An Actual Thing!
