Honestly a pretty formative Pitchfork staff memory for me was when D'Angelo returned and started playing shows. I probably watched him cover "Space Oddity" 50 times when it happened. Black Messiah is a masterpiece. His cover of "Sometimes It Snows in April" still makes me cry. We didn't deserve him.

I doubt that publishing—after years of shoving off more & moar marketing work onto authors—has any contingency plans for the death of social media. Big $$$ authors will likely be fine—they’ve always rec’d the bulk of marketing 💰—but the rest of us? Esp. the marginalized? Good luck to us, I guess

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
