What a lovely surprise, to see On Spec and Diane celebrated like this!
I attended ConSpec in ‘98, after I moved back to Edmonton and was searching for community. I met Diane then, through the husby ☺️
I also recall it as my intro to @nalohop.bsky.social who was GoH. I loved all her panels! 🤓

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

A few weeks ago I zoomed with a group of high school students and their adult mentor to discuss taking social action. I am thrilled to report that this group of 10 students raised $10,000 in two weeks to support their local food pantry. They sent me a photo and it has them all jumping and I tear up.

Our current premier started as a public school board trustee in the 90s, hopscotched into provincial politics (& RW podcasts), won the party leadership tacking ever-rightward, now forces GOP-esque policy onto our province, ie. targeted harm.
So. We MUST keep these chuckleheads off our school boards.

We said “absolutely not” when she ran for school board here because someone who hates other people’s children (and their parents’ choices) as much as she does needs to be kept as far from actual power as possible.
Bethany Mandel lives in Maryland because it's a great state to live in (for now). Her problem with it however is that people she doesn't like also have the freedom she is given. These unrepentant ghouls try to infect everything and everyone around them until you are just as miserable.
