I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Caught a mouse in our utility room and released it far away in an abandoned barn. Mrs G then found that it had shredded the lining of one of her walking boots and made a cozy nest inside. Feels like I've been gifted the subject for an illustrated children's book. BERGHAUS MOUSE: THE LONG VOYAGE HOME

Watched Stephen Gallagher’s SILENT WITNESS last night - The Legacy (from Drama channel last week).
It's a great story - chilling government conspiracy & cover-up that had echoes of Quatermass 2. Also reminded me of the science-y investigations of Eleventh Hour.
Superb stuff.

Some time back, with @andydiggle.bsky.social and others, worked up a proposal for a Prisoner live promenade drama using the landmarks and landscape of Lancaster’s Williamson Park. Contacted ITV to initiate pursuit of the rights. Ghosted.

Now I read dogs better than I did you see it with many on screen dog ‘actors’ where they know exactly where their human is and who has the treats. Obviously they are generally better actors than babies :)

Nothing more stressful than shooting with a baby in a crib. Hanging 50lbs of camera equipment directly over them gives me heart palpitations. Whatever we get in two takes is about all I can handle.

Whenever there's a baby in a scene you can almost always follow its eyeline to where a parent is standing off-camera. Just saw a show that took this to an extreme; screen mother was carrying it out of the door and the kid points offscreen and says, "Mama".
