I think the saddest thing about AI video for me, aside from immense societal damage--

Cool and nearly-impossible thinsg do happen. Lifelong wild animals do seek human help sometimes.

But we can never again trust those things. A wolf saved a kitten? Yeah, I ain't believing that.

AI stole the magic

I hope that liberals are finally realizing what the left has been saying forever: The police state and its culture of mass surveillance doesn't exist to keep you safe. They're protecting the ruling class from YOU. They could care less that someone shot up a heavily surveilled university campus.
New photo of person of interest in Brown University shooting is released as manhunt enters fourth day
Like previous images, the enhanced photo showed a man with a black mask, a beanie and what appears to be a two-toned jacket.

Sat in a Mexican restaurant on Lake Street. The door was locked to keep ICE out; someone was posted by the door looking outside and letting customers in. Whistles went off outside. Everyone went on high alert. People scattered.

Went to another Latino business up the road. Their door was locked too.

Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things

Remember when you censored Judith Butler for calling the gender-critical movement fascist? Or when you ran an editorial both sides-ing gender identity reform? Or when you quoted a transphobic hate group as a neutral source? Or when you basically republished one of their press releases verbatim?

I hope people understand that if Trump gets his way America will soon be part of the global axis of evil if we aren't already. You see it in the Caribbean, you see it in Ukraine, and you see it with Trump trying to buddy up to Xi. We are a malevolent force.

Two weeks ago I said that there were likely millions of uninstalled Blackwell GPUs sitting in warehouses as there is neither the data center capacity nor the power to turn them on. Michael Burry is looking into it and it looks like he’s got evidence I’m right.

I know it’s very popular at the moment but I think “enshittification” is insufficient a term for what’s happening right now. This is not a gradual diminishing, it is a leap off a cliff, it’s a system in free fall.
My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.

I see the PM is being very rattled and very untruthful about the Greens again in the papers.

He couldn’t say this stuff in Parliament because he would be lying to the House - both about what our popular, evidence-based policies are, and about him believing this guff.

Don't get your news about a genocide from social media, get it from somewhere reliable, like the president who would never repeat atrocity propaganda about seeing 40 beheaded babies for half a year after it was disproven.

Fantastic advice, thanks Hillary!

US universities aren't educational institutions. They operate like corporations and focus on indoctrinating students into joining the ranks of the professional class. The goal is to create competent systems managers that can't think critically and will maintain the status quo.
I dunno man it just really seems like American universities have lost the plot over the past 30 years or so and while I too love college football and basketball, the people making key decisions at them don't seem to care about their educational mission at all
