My favorite Struzan story is that he was doing the poster for Indy at Disneyland, but they didn't have the rights to Ford's likeness. Fed up with working around the problem, Struzan just called Ford and was like, "hey, can I use your face for this," and Ford said, "if it's for you, absolutely."

Oh no! According to his instagram, Drew Struzan has passed away. He defined the look of movie posters for decades.

I own so many posters of his work and he was an incredible artist without compare.

That's something Mike Johnson doesn't understand. In this system, unless you're a billionaire, you ARE a vulnerable population.

And we shouldn't have either of those things anymore: billionaires or vulnerable populations. We need a system that makes both an impossibility.

I think EVERYONE deserves healthcare. Even the people who want me dead and those that support ICE and all the things that are wrong with the world.

No one--NO ONE--should suffer or go bankrupt because they're sick.

Just like no one should go hungry. Or not have a roof over their head.

Here's the thing: I think Medicaid should be for everyone. The health insurance industry is a scam. Needless middlemen profiting on sickness whose sole purpose is for us to pay them to deny us life-saving care.

I get this in BattleTech, too. But I find telling someone to go back to the beginning of a 40 year old series is way too daunting and most will never do it.

Start with the new stuff and backfill with stuff you’ve got an interest in! Same with SF/F in general.

It's interesting to me that when I and other authors suggest starting people new to SF/F on contemporary titles as an easier step-in to the genre, there are people who seem to think this means we think no one should read anything in SF/F that's more than 20 years old, EVER. This is, uh, very silly.

Realized AFTER I did it that the Unseen version was not realyl "usable" for CGL stuff, which stinks, as it chibis well, but also makes it the one Fox Patrol piece from my Patreon I can share.

Fox Patrol [Unseen] Chibi Marauder Battlemech in Orange and Cream paint colors.

One of my Patreon Pieces for Bryan Young's Fox Patrol, and the only one I will be sharing for a while, being as after I did the Marauder, I realized that the Unseen version wouldn't be usable for any official stuff... but was too adorable as a chibi to ditch.
So I still need to redo the Marauder using the newer "Classic NuSeen" version. Problem being all the hard angles and greebles don't really chibi near as well/easily, so that might take a little longer to do up satisfactorily.

Nobody knows anything. Traditional publishing is just as hard as indie, and you can pick up a book that’s absolutely garbage that came through either route.

Genres aren't real. They are mental projections we impose on stories to simplify the way talk about and sell them but stories come unshaped from deep within us and writers shouldn't feel constrained by or even respect genres at all. The story comes first.
