Okay this is a terrifying example of unchecked and expanding authoritarianism but also:

Authoritarians depend on fear. Democracy depends on each other.
The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings #indivisible

Asked about a Dem response to a Rep. Nadler aide being handcuffed by DHS agents inside his congressional office —

@RepJeffries: “We will respond in a time, place, and manner of our choosing… it will be continuous and it will meet the moment.”

BASH: “What does that mean?”

Standing up for the silent majority of voters who celebrate and treasure their right as Americans to owe $11,000 for getting rushed to the hospital on one of the worst days of their lives. It's called "being moderate" and it's how you win elections.
NEW: Gov Jared Polis (D) has vetoed a bill banning surprise billing by ambulance companies. The bill passed the Colorado legislature by *unanimous* votes in both chambers. #copolitics

The line in Bush v. Gore that’s like “uhhh our holding applies to uhhh this election only,” but for the sake of the current conservative justices’ investment portfolios
This bespoke exception for the Fed is one of the most brazenly made-up things I've ever seen the Supreme Court do (which is saying something). There is no principled basis to distinguish the Fed from other independent agencies. The conservative justices just don't want Trump to crash the market!
The Supreme Court goes out of its way to say that its order today does NOT allow Trump to remove members of the Federal Reserve because it is "uniquely structured" and has a "distinct history tradition." (I do not think those distinctions hold water.) www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

The NLRB is effectively closed now. Welcome back to 1935.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court just effectively overruled 90 years of precedent on the shadow docket, greenlighting Trump's firing of multi-member agency leaders while their cases are pending—despite Congress' effort to protect them against removal. A huge decision. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

As Pamela Merritt told me, Amendment 3 “was not the first time I’ve had powerful, well-financed, white political people tell me" to stand down. “But it is the first time I’ve had them tell me that after sitting up there screaming for 10 years that ‘Roe is the floor’ and ... ‘trust Black women.’”
This is not a story about how Republicans are trying to defy the will of Missouri voters, who restored the right to abortion in the state in November. It's a story about how, despite that victory at the ballot box, it is still almost impossible to get an abortion in Missouri.
Missouri’s Struggle to Restore Abortion Access
The state’s voters defeated an abortion ban. So why can’t more people get one?

the criticism that Dems put forth old and ailing politicians to their detriment is unquestionably true, but there’s a large contingent of the party dedicated to calling you a heartless scumbag if you point it out
Three democratic members of congress who were sworn in this January have died in the first four-plus months of the session.
The family of Dem Rep. Gerry Connolly announced that he has died at 75. Connolly had been fighting cancer.

1.4% of Democratic Representatives have died in the six months since they were all elected but if you suggest that politicians over 75 should be told to retire you get forced out of the DNC.
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) has died, per a statement from his family:

“It is with immense sadness that we share that our devoted and loving father, husband, brother, friend, and public servant, Congressman Gerald E. Connolly, passed away peacefully at his home this morning surrounded by family.

This is incredibly fucked up. 16 Democratic Senators voted to help Trump legalize blatant corruption. Absolutely disgusting behavior.
Last night, 16 Senate Democrats voted with Republicans to advance a crypto-friendly bill that will enable Trump’s corruption.

Instead of standing up to Trump, these 16 Democrats decided they’d rather do a big favor for the crypto industry and legitimize an avenue for Trump to collect bribes.

i would build a decorative brick/structural terra cotta factory where the kilns are fired with renewable energy
