This YouTube video, about making chicken stock the way Heston Blumenthal does, is one of the most impressive pieces of production I've seen in ages!

And also good if you wanna make delicious chicken stock.

If someone keeps telling you they have a plan, or a strong set of values, or guiding principles, but never spells out what they ARE in plain language, you are legally permitted nay obliged to draw the worst possible conclusion

The knight stood, triumphant, over the prostrate dragon. He raised his sword high above his head and-

"I wouldn't if i were you"

The voice was in his head. Confused, he glanced around. A black cat was cleaning a paw, casually nearby.

He raised the sword again.

"Are you REALLY, really sure?" /1

3️⃣ A ban blocks access. It does not address harm.
Online harm comes from platform design, governance failures, and adult misuse.
An isolated ban will not change platform behaviour.

Musk is promoting some dodgy statistics here, 70% of New Zealanders are of European heritage, you only get the 55.9% figure by excluding anyone who also has any kind of non-European heritage

My last story for the year - the third in a sort of trilogy about the energy crisis. This one is about about the unmanaged, unfunded, messy transition away from gas and the impact on businesses.Feels like a perfect example of where we really really could be doing better www.rnz.co.nz/news/in-dept...
Lost in transition: The businesses trapped by New Zealand’s energy crisis
Behind the nation's energy crisis are businesses quietly fighting to survive - many feel they have nothing but bad options.

This is an important point - bad faith actors like Seymour use these tactics regularly. If you've ever been a victim of this in your personal life you'll recognise it in people in positions of power and Seymour is a prime example. It's unacceptable and toxic AF.

It’s infuriating to me that I need to evaluate media to determine whether it’s AI generated now. The great “time saver” technology wastes incalculable time and energy for people who want to retain their grasp on reality

Every right-wing “grassroots”organisation in New Zealand is just Jordan Williams, David Farrar, and one randomly-selected Atlas Network apparatchik in a trenchcoat
There's a new "grassroots" website automating supportive emails to Erica Stanford / signatures on an open letter endorsing her attacks on te Tiriti and you have until the end of this skeet to guess who registered the domain name

...

Did you guess Jordan Williams' Campaign Company? Gold star

Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)

I'm an "A.i." abolitionist.

No consumer-facing LLMs or generative "A.i." in anything.

Sure, machine learning in science and a few other limited applications is fine.

But consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." that are based on theft, push disinfo, and can be manipulated by billionaires?

No.

People who made websites in the early 1990s were following their own interests, building communities, and helping others learn to write, code, design, etc.

In the early 2000s, we had the rise of blogging and citizen journalism.

Even early social networks initially did more good than harm.
