My hot take is that footnotes are way better than endnotes.
I will format the endnotes properly next time.

mine are pretty much all the same

1. brown meat in pot
2. sweat aromatic vegetables
3. fry tomato paste and garlic
4. deglaze with aromatic liquid
5. simmer until you get tired of simmering it
6. serve over noodles or rice

or toast some rice before deglazing and let it absorb the liquid

The demise of Wade-Giles has been an unmitigated disaster for Mandarin phonology in Anglophone speech.
Note to the universe of cable news people reporting right now on Trump/Xi Jinping.

For last name of PRC leader, just say SHE. As in "he and she."

That's close enough for English speakers.

(Not "gee" or "ji" or 'zhi' or something seemingly more 'foreign' sounding.)

Just a heads up. I was able to schedule my COVID vaccine appointment. Online it will ask “do you have a condition that puts you at high risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 virus.”

Click yes and it will allow you to schedule an appointment.

No questions asked.

No proof required.

Pass it on.

another banger

always did find it deeply amusing when people have used clausewitz as the theoretical basis of civilian supremacy when he personally participated in hijacking the ship of state from lawful authority and was basically completely vindicated
Huntington's theory of "objective civilian control," the separation of military and civilian spheres reinforced by an "apolitical" professional ethos, remains a lodestar for the American military. Yet its foundation is flawed and, as events in DC show, continues to do more harm than good. My latest⬇️

Faith of the God Most High / Allfather is nominally heno/monotheistic, because IME rpg players default to treating religions as christianity anyways, and the medieval Latin/Orthodox christian aesthetic Goes Off , but it's just one religion among many in the wider world
Welcome to #MythAugust, a worldbuilding game about gods, myths & religions. You can yap about a mythology you already have, or use these prompts to build one! 😊

Week 1 is all about basics. Introduce your religion! What's it called? What type of religion is it?

It seems the pro-Israel consensus among Democrats is well and truly dead at this point. Dem primary voters prefer candidates who refuse to travel to Israel (by net +45%) and back a bill to end military aid to Israel (by net +61%). www.filesforprogress.org/datasets/202...

Another example of Trump/Republican voters getting screwed over by Trump/Republicans in their budget bill.

Despite the state's blue tilt - and with the exception of a few cities like Atlantic City and Asbury Park - the Jersey Shore is notoriously red.

I've said this several times but I genuinely think the "cooking is hard 😥" thing out of a lot of younger people is driven by social media where influencers will put immense amounts of effort into presenting their food so when they do it, it doesn't look like right and it demoralizes them
My sister just told me about this story and my jaw dropped that this is her ‘simple’ antipasto

Girl my simple antipasto is like a tenth this energy, sometimes I don’t even roll the meats 😭
