"But what does that say about my job if a machine that's wrong 75% of the time can do for me and no one notices?"

Hi, you are participating in the most inefficient and needlessly cruel version of UBI possible.
this is similar to what I've come to think of as the "reverse turing test"

when people find synthetic text is "good enough" to complete a task (homework, business report, email) it doesn't mean the machine is smart. it means they were asked to produce something that didn't matter

it's diagnostic
So similarly, when we see people who prefer ChatGPT or a similar synthetic text extruding machine as a source of medical information, that means those are people who are under-served in the current system.

A great deal of AI hype is coming from con artists who understand exactly how much easier it’s going to be to use the same cons over and over once they achieve their dream of a world in which nobody understands how anything 1) works or 2) has ever worked.

If Solar cell production doesn't grow at all, and remains just as efficient, the US will add about 600GW of solar to the grid. That's about half our current grid's total capacity.

Nuclear. Can't. Scale.
Duke Energy (Illinois) says that it does not expect new nuclear reactors to be available until *2037* at the earliest.

Not gonna lie, kinda agree. Sprite comics were something else.
honestly tempting
2025 is the year that we bring back sprite comics. The great democratiser. ANYONE can make a sprite comic. You don't need to be good at art. Hell you only need to be passable at writing.

Don't use AI to make you a comic. Get your hands dirty in some fucking Megaman 7 sprite sheets like god intended

I mean if any faith in America has suffered the worst from ICE and their ilk its the Catholics.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how many Catholic parishes and power figures have been loudly and openly “fuck this”
ICE’s acting director ordered a Boston Catholic parish to tear down its Advent Nativity scene—stripped of baby Jesus and branded with the message “ICE WAS HERE.” The parish priest is refusing, citing he pope’s call to stand with migrants. It's another chapter in Kristi Noem's war on Christians.

It would be really funny if the GOP gets zero benefit from all of that gerrymandering.
This Georgia flip is in a district that the GOP drew to drown Democratic voters in Athens into a neighboring red county, Oconee.

But tonight, Dems in Athens were out in FULL FORCE to swamp that gerrymander.

A 16 point reversal from 2024 might sound absurd, but given the economic headwinds, I think that might be a conservative estimate of Republican odds.

Dawg what is going on with grandpa
Every part of this is bonkers. The intro is bonkers. The transition to his health is bonkers. The mention that other presidents didn't need cognitive exams is bonkers. The claim that this screening test is somehow hard is bonkers. The idea that criticism of him is treason is bonkers. All of it.

BREAKING: Democrats have *flipped* a seat in Georgia's state House tonight.

Democrat Eric Gisler has won the seat, which was previously held by a Republican who resigned this fall.

This is a red territory: Trump won the district by 13% in 2024.

I keep seeing videos like this on my home page. Weird pop culture mash ups with AI thumbnails from small channels with few views on their videos. No matter how many times I say "don't recommend" more pop up.

And boy howdy that's a lot of stuff to say about a nothing question.

The post-Brexit immigration system is also indicative of the liberal Brexiteer tendency, which I was a part of, which saw increased non-EU migration as a good thing and basically saw nativist leavers as useful idiots

Childhood is primetime for developing creativity. It's usually when a person takes their first, wobbly steps into getting their imaginations down on paper.

Redirecting that into typing prompts feels genuinely defiling.

It's truly wild to me that this just keeps happening. Coca-Cola runs an AI ad and people overwhelmingly react with disgust. They do it again, and people are disgusted again. Now McDonald's makes an AI ad that's so bad that so many people are furious about it they pull it down.

People hate AI slop!
