Solid State Lithium batteries are entering mass production over the next couple of years which will make electric cars have a range of like 500 miles on a bad day, and last much longer.

Iron Air battery plants are also coming online that will improve the viability of renewables for the grid.

Next February will be the first attempt for a human flight to the moon (no landing yet) since 1972. That same year there are around a dozen robotic missions flying to the moon (that's a lot).
Artemis II: Nasa plans crewed Moon mission for February
The mission around the Moon will pave the way for a lunar landing as soon as 2027.

Biomining is getting closer to practical application, which would pretty much eliminate most of the risks associated with traditional mining and material processing, making raw materials cheaper and more secure.

@sailorrooscout.bsky.social is one of the best accounts to follow for news about progress being made in biomedical research.

Researchers are inches away from personalized cancer vaccines, HIV vaccines, and more generalized cancer vaccines.
GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a cancer vaccine that has shown STUNNING results, PREVENTING up to 88% of MULTIPLE aggressive cancers by harnessing dual-pathway nanoparticles that train the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. In some cases, it COMPLETELY prevented metastasis.

For me personally, the really sad part is that people don't know about the technological advancements that are improving quality of life because Silicon Valley has become a tech journalism black hole, sucking everyone's attention away from stories of genuine progress.
I think one of the saddest things about being a millennial is remembering a time when technology was advancing in a way that made life better and easier and more exciting instead of actively, intentionally worse

It's wild how much it feels like people are desperate to memory hole this entire phenomenon, to me. How viciously everyone who pointed out the emperor had no clothes were criticized. How content they all seem to be to let the biggest wealth transfer of the decade just fade out w/o REAL examination.
-gross fork in a sink food disposal like laughter- I REMEMBER PUTTING THIS THING OUT 3 YEARS AGO WHEN I STARTED THIS JOB AND IT'S STILL HERE, WITH DUST AGED PAGE EDGES LOL

wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...

Sleep is a biological necessity, and sleep deprivation has real physical, psychological, and social consequences that need to be taken seriously. The way our society treats it as slothful to sleep according to natural rhythms (including midday naps and variant chronotypes like night owls) is evil.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

I'm gonna start a PAC called a Star For LA to foster Angelino Statehood.
US States With A Smaller Population Than Los Angeles County

Although the county went 64.8% for Harris vs 32.2% for Trump; Trump still got more votes in the county than in Alaska, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota combined.

I love the joyfulness of the protest photos. 🥹 We’re mad but we’re also not afraid. You can roll your eyes at silly signs and costumes, but you can’t deny it’s bringing people together and helping us feel less alone. It’s exactly what fascism hates.

Bit of a confidence boost today. Several months of eating waaay healthier, working out, sleeping better and losing weight.. I trimmed up my beard and saw a less chubby and "fresher" face staring back at me.

Felt kinda nice. 😗

There might be something to all of this "healthy" stuff.

Our recent poll found that women 28 and younger skew substantially more left than the national average. Nearly 80 percent of Gen Z women want abortion to be legal and seven in 10 want gender-affirming care to be accessible for trans adults.
