True. And some politicians will promise utopia precisely because they know they'll never be elected and have to try and make good on it, which then poisons discourse for those who do have to actually improve on the situation because they couldn't make a utopia magically happen.

In fact, leftists on here regularly mock the idea that the way to progress is to keep electing people who want to improve things. And y'all really expect me to trust my health care to the political whims of people who cheered when Musk killed USAID.

On a political level, y'all basically got your wish list granted going into the Biden administration and your response was to never give them credit.

On a personal level, Donald Trump has officially labeled healthcare for me as a human rights abuse. And I can't trust y'all to vote against the GOP.

Oh dang. In all my years of schooling and adult years, there wasn't any stretch of time that wasn't Ruthless except for living at one cul-de-sac address for a several years

I might add that this Ruth was an absolute doll, sweetest lady, and best mom ever to lovely adopted Haitian girls
My daughter’s 4th grade class is absolutely Ruthless.

Every year around Thanksgiving, I see tons of grad students post heartbreaking messages on social media about how their loved ones don’t understand or support their decision to study what seems like something pointless or silly.

Perhaps my American Scientist essay can help!

In hindsight, perhaps no other story demonstrates the…
“Tonight You’re Mine!”: Kind of like Persuasion, if Wentworth had blackmailed Anne into spending a sexy weekend alone with him.
Her dark eyes narrowed speculatively as a cream-colored coupe swung into her driveway, stopped directly beneath her.  A man got out, and before her eyes recognized him, her lurching heart told her …

*whispers* plastic surgery stigma is also wrong

*whispers even more quietly* it is in fact fine when we do it to MAGAface people bc that's the equivalent of Nazi filmmaking
AI use is gonna be like plastic surgery: when it's obvious and over the top will incur some stigma, when done well, you won't even know.
You can, but it's going to be demo and social network based. There's definitely going to be a major stigma towards being a Clippy addict in a lot of white collar professional circles.

Like in seriousness, AI slop aesthetic is obviously not art that I enjoy, but there is an implicit value judgment in telling other people that they are wrong for enjoying it and I don’t think that is correct. People are allowed to like slop (questions about reality distortion aside)

Ok but the Dems need to run on a platform that signals a break with the status quo and the need to do big things and if you have another idea for that besides Dem socialist policies I'm all ears but I don't think you do so yeah Dems should be running on that platform.
