True. And some politicians will promise utopia precisely because they know they'll never be elected and have to try and make good on it, which then poisons discourse for those who do have to actually improve on the situation because they couldn't make a utopia magically happen.

In fact, leftists on here regularly mock the idea that the way to progress is to keep electing people who want to improve things. And y'all really expect me to trust my health care to the political whims of people who cheered when Musk killed USAID.

On a political level, y'all basically got your wish list granted going into the Biden administration and your response was to never give them credit.

On a personal level, Donald Trump has officially labeled healthcare for me as a human rights abuse. And I can't trust y'all to vote against the GOP.

I think my biggest assertion is that the things people are using AIfor that intentionality are being sucked out of are things like your grandpa replying to an email chain with"Sounds Good :) Don't Let the Liberals Eat Your Face",not a bunch of people with words in their heart that will never get out

Used right it can help people brainstorm, or serve as a first pass editor fod someone who doesn't have access to one. Yeah, if you have it write a novel it will write a bad one. But so what? Don't do that, problem solved.

My point, though, is that AI has been applied broadly by the actual experts, always has been, and calling it out now just because of this specific bubble is a bit inconsistent with its history.

I'm alive because my cells were genetically engineered to fight cancer. (CAR T-cell therapy)

GMO food is safe, reduces pesticide use, and has more nutrition.

Like in seriousness, AI slop aesthetic is obviously not art that I enjoy, but there is an implicit value judgment in telling other people that they are wrong for enjoying it and I don’t think that is correct. People are allowed to like slop (questions about reality distortion aside)

AI has always been a catch-all term going back to the 1950s. It's also been a buzzword multiple times over, with a big boom in the 1980s, but saying AI is just a fad is also wrong. It's a big field and parts of it get turned into bubbles every so often.

Like CGI in other words: People "hate CGI" and don't notice all the CGI used to replace mattes and all of the other situations where it doesn't call attention to itself.

(And nobody hates the CGI in "Terminator 2")
