Every Star Tribune Minneapolis City Hall story would be improved by adding the sentence “The police budget is up $50 million in three years.” bsky.app/profile/wedg...
As it stands now, before amendments are finished, the police budget is set to grow by almost $14 million year over year. MPD's $230 million for 2025 would be $50 million higher than 2022.

City budget fact check: the idea that local taxes are increasing because of bike and bus lanes is the local equivalent of very ignorant people complaining about foreign aid in the federal budget.

One more time: identity politics can only exist on the left.

A campaign that degenerated entire groups of people, and is fused into white Christian nationalism, is not engaged in identity politics.

He added, “Democrats aren’t saying that, and they should be.”
New York Delivers Key House Wins, but Warning Bells Sound for Democrats
Although Democrats flipped at least two House seats in New York, Donald J. Trump did better than any Republican presidential candidate since the 1980s.

While ARPA did a lot to boost family incomes, so did the CARES Act passed under Trump. If people say, "under Trump, the government started doing a lot more to help me pay my bills; under Biden, the government stopped doing that" - they are not confused or deluded, they are describing material facts.

The climate ramifications of a Trump administration will be astounding. We’re already past several major tipping points. Not only are we forfeiting the lives of millions of people in the present, but also compromising future generations.
Do people realize how many millions of people will die if RFK Jr actually runs the FDA?

· food regulations, gone
· healthcare/insurance, gone
· vaccines, gone
· medications (incl. SSRIs), gone

The synergies are lethal.

Now add to that EPA destroyed, CDC, NOAA, FEMA ...

millions dead.

Voters are living in a post-internet world and legacy institutions have not kept up.
