Today while making a batch of golden tomato and ginger jam I learned what I probably did wrong with the pepper jelly, so I’m most likely going to have to redo all of that.

But the jam turned out great!

A spoon full of tomato jam. It’s an orangey gold color and has tomato seeds and slices of ginger in it.

My dad would’ve turned 70 today. I could talk about all the shitty stuff, but instead I’m choosing to remember this moment today.

It was October 2013 and his first visit after I moved up to MN. We went to Summit so he could get a fresh pour of one of his favorite stouts.

My dad in his late 50s, sitting the Summit Brewing taproom holding up a pint of their oatmeal stout with a perfect one inch of head. He has salt and pepper hair, is wearing a button down shirt that’s white with black, red, and blue plaid stripes, and has the biggest smile on his face.

I’m ready to be done with canning only from a doing the dishes angle. If that weren’t a thing I’d actually wish I had more to can.

Lol there are definitely anti-helmet people. Boomers, mainly. They grew up without using them so why should kids (or anyone) need one now? Very logically sound reasoning that definitely holds up against scrutiny.

That was way too much work to only yield 8 quarter pints. And those bubbles better smooth out while the jars process because I did not have the strength of will to keep removing them.

Next time I do this I’m leaving the seeds in and it can just be super spicy.

Whoops forgot to update as I was cooking.

Prior to adding sugar it was very spicy but had a nice flavor. After adding the sugar it’s sooo good.

It looks like it’s going to be a bit runnier than I wanted because I don’t think I used the right amount of pectin.

Played the first session of our new DnD game today. Our DM doesn’t have a Dragonborn mini fig so I got to be the Warhammer version of an AT-ST thingamabobber instead.

One of our party fully died when another one rolled three nat 1s and accidentally impaled him with her axe 🫠😂

This is gonna be fun.

Tesla is laying on his back on my lap, flicking his tail and doing his signature grumblies. I sat him up so he could leave if he wanted and he grumbled so loudly and then laid back down.

And now he’s asleep but still grumbling and flicking his tail.
