I wish we, like, regulated shit nowadays. Between car bloat, blinding headlines, and neighbourhoods packed with rental suites but no on-property parking, driving is an absolute nightmare now.
Nearly all drivers say vehicles' lights are too bright in study
The study, commissioned by the Department for Transport, was completed by Berkshire's TRL.

At COP30 Canada just got awarded the fossil of the day — first time since 2014 (the harper years). Clear sign of how Carney’s pro fossil fuel agenda and backsliding on climate policy is being noticed internationally.

I 100% agree that we need like a really diverse ecosystem and not everyone is ever gonna find all the Patreons and Substacks

that's what was so great about Teen Vogue, it met an audience where they were and brought journalism to them, rather than them having to know where to look to find it

you can't defeat fascists by becoming them. centrists at home who call for a rejection of identity politics (except their own) should take note
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

At least with a conversation, I might hear some juicy gossip. Or get an insight into other lives. I've never overheard a TikTok that can compare.

Like when I overheard a guy at a pub present his case for a threesome (them+girl) to his girlfriend. By the end, she negotiated it to them + a guy.
I need some science video or podcast to explain why overhearing someone's video is worse than overhearing someone's conversation. It is, but WHY?
My bus driver just called out the people watching videos on speaker and I think we should make him mayor

I don't think I'm overestimating at all. I have spent a lot of time dealing with victims and their enablers.

I'd argue people underestimate how much abusers know what they're doing is wrong.

So if Olivia is 32 now, broke up with Lizza last year, was together with him for a decade, and then was living with you for 4+ years before that, how old was she when you moved her out of her (presumably parents’) house in the suburbs to live with you?
Btw about this from Lizza's reply: Olivia and I lived together for 4+ years (4 b'days, 4 Xmases, 4 anniversaries). That's like $1250 of jewelry per celebration. And her apartment was a writing studio. And I made an f-ton then. What was I supposed to do? Get her a lot of Gift Certificates from Kmart?

There's every chance this has something to do with Thiel's bizarre beliefs about the antichrist and not anything based on some kind of business logic. Neither is great. One person shouldn't be able to tank an economy for either reason (although fuck AI).
The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

The thing about genAI is it doesn't do anything its promoters say it does. It doesn't work.
Finally got to the "I want to burn it all down" portion of the gen AI-era semester, where I realize they're all using some sort of LLM to "help" organize their thoughts and it's just spitting out raw sewage onto the screen.
