This is so deeply at odds with the vision and history of America. Take pretty much any ethnic or racial group that are part of the American mosaic America today - they have all faced the same accusation. The moment these accusations are turned into policy are some of the most shameful in US history
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

It just needs to be way easier to lose your license and your car for reckless driving, because a few months of major societal disruption 5 years ago taught people that driving in such a way that kills others or themselves is nbd

i’ve said this before and i remain convinced it’s true, the 2028 platform that would deliver obama 08 results is “i am gonna
bring the hammer down on the corrupt self-dealing politicians and their rich friends and there are no sacred cows id give a pass”

You have to be willing to walk away from these guys if they let you down, just as a matter of basic self respect. It's not a fandom. You're hiring them to do a job or not.
I liked the Platner ads too but I think there's a difference between "guy who had some bad reddit posts a decade ago" and "ex-Blackwater merc who still has a Nazi tattoo." Sucks bigtime that he's the only one taking positions and talking policy I like, but them's the breaks!

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

I am proud to have become an American.

Once you understand that a driving principle of American politics is there is no such thing as a compassionate solution that's cheap enough or a cruel solution that's too expensive, a lot of things click into place.
I think it's possible that Trump's illegal invasion of DC will really in some sense "get rid of the tents." If that happens, elite commentators will rush to praise him and attribute it to the effectiveness of cruelty, and not to the fact that they spent millions of dollars per tent cleared.

Michael Ironside has other, more expansive uses but he can absolutely wear a uniform and say stuff like "send in Mendoza" or "may God have mercy on our souls." He'll do that about as well as it can be done.

But the highlight of the night was some #UPSLAfterDark magic with Tennessee Tempo FC falling behind 1-0 in extra time to a 10-man Chicago Nation FC team, then getting two late goals by Souleymane Balde (114') & former pro Dominic Oduro (116') in extra time to win 2-1. #USOpenCup

The massive list of suspended UCLA grants came out today: 300 NSF and 500 NIH grants. I am miraculously not on the list, but this is devastating. Science will be lost, progress will be frozen, people will lose jobs, and careers in science and medicine are being destroyed. This is not ok.

Is it “time to panic” when the guy who sent you to your 10th straight loss is bragging that he told LinkedIn how he was going to do it?
Hosei Kijima explained this goal after the game and said an absolutely incredible quote:

"I posted this on LinkedIn awhile ago, about: as the backline was stepping forward that's when you should make a run in behind and I've scored maybe two other goals in my college career similar to that..."

No democrat should vote for anything in Congress until Musk is fired and all the federal funding he zeroed out on a whim is restored. We simply cannot have a democracy when the Executive's zonked-out Vizier moves fast and breaks things he doesn't understand, which is all things, because he's stupid.
Musk: I should say we will make mistakes. We won't be perfect. But when we make a mistake we'll fix it quickly. So for example with USAID, one of the things we accidentally canceled briefly was Ebola prevention.

I think the reason people are frustrated with Democratic leaders is that they expect these elected representatives to act like a real disaster is happening, which it is. Four-day weekends and bratwurst junkets in Munich kind of undercut that

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges.

This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.
