I mostly talk about pets, board games, gardening, coffee and recipes. Embracing my inner crone by turning into your Mom Friend. I only speak for myself. Yes, I will go to brunch with you. | She/her
The spouse has nicknamed one of the cats “La Llorona” because of the way she drifts around the house wailing for no apparent reason. Anyway, that’s why I’m awake at 5am.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

“If everyone that came before me had just complied and complied and complied, I probably would have entered this theater, any theater, through a colored section. Every good thing you have in your life is a product of someone else’s struggle.”
This is a very powerful video from comedian Josh Johnson. Not just because what he says that's meaningful. But because it shows an emerging trend that high profile people have finally started speaking up, despite concerns it might alienate their followers.

It is time to choose sides.

There’s a scene from the show iZombie that I think about a lot. A woman has been turned into a zombie and is trying to deal with it as best she can. And we find her still filling her bird feeders. 🧵

This wheel is to the boy squirrel the way that the football is to Charlie Brown and it still makes me laugh every time he tries to use it only to be immediately spun.

I need a mood booster, let's talk about capybaras.

Here's a capy demonstrating one of MANY ways they can move through the water: running along the bottom.

They're 'semi-aquatic' mammals, just like hippos, seals & beavers. They LOVE water.

I bought this rack at an estate sale and gathered my TBR piles from all over the house to consolidate them. We won’t talk about the digital TBR list.

Making black-eyed peas with ham and cornbread for lunch and hosting a board game meetup. Seems like a decent way to start the year.

Anyone else announce to your cat what flavor of Churu you’re dispensing, like a sommelier trying to sell them on it?

When I was in my early 20s, I’d go to Waffle House with my band after gigs. However, our drummer couldn’t come with us because he’d been banned from the local WH, presumably for some kind of drunken nonsense. Sorry, Randy. More pecan waffles for the rest of us.
have i ever said how much i love Waffle House?

I need one more to get to 100. Fortunately, the one on the list for today is short.
NEW: How many books did you read this year? If it was more than 2, congrats: you read more than the median American.

I’d had my dining room table leaf in for well over a year because it was slightly stuck after I refinished the top. Of course it ended up being super easy to unstick and now we’re boggled by all the extra room we have.
