I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

A better question that answers itself is why the Atlantic is giving space to a Peter Thiel bro who is obsessed with colonizing the moon
Man, these Atlantic dudes have entirely detached from reality & are now just writing fanfic about some mythical left in their imaginations.

The demobilizing, deflating, and depressing effect of watching day after day as the dumbest, most vapid lickspittles alive are elevated and handed success beyond your wildest dreams is a feature, not a bug, of authoritarian / nationalist movements like this one.

The thing about Grok isn't just that it's a Nazi, it's that it tells on all the other LLMs. Outsourcing critical parts of your brain/workflows/team to systems tuned in more subtle ways by companies that may not share your values is just as risky as obvious bias or hallucination

I know y’all don’t care about this but there’s a pretty fast spreading Covid variant going around and there’s gonna be a summer surge whether you like it or not. You can, of course, avoid this by getting vaccinated and wearing a mask but you won’t do that.

Historian here. The history of “little fingers” stereotype as a rationale for underpaying women and children is long and dishonorable.
honestly speechless

“Our reporting does not make racial or genetic generalizations, but simply cites experts who have experience with the industrial process in U.S. and Chinese factories.”

like ok but you said “young Chinese women have small fingers” … ?? ?

nope. anthropic made a dataset including fake emails implying a nonexistent engineer was having an affair and the chatbot emitted words related to words from those fake emails implying a fictitious affair. then a bunch of dipshit frauds at anthropic made the home alone face and ran around the house.

Counterpoint: it is an extremely good thing when a country has enough freedom of speech to make art that analyzes real world problems in a fictional setting.
I am still really freaked out because a few days ago I made a post alluding to mass prison labor in the U.S. (a real phenomenon that is ongoing and is pretty much slavery) and multiple people chimed in to tell me that it reminded them of the tv show Andor (a fictional tv show)

Thousands of pages of documents show school districts around the country did not understand how much ChatGPT would change their classrooms, and pro-AI consultants filled in some of the gaps.
