I am really not bragging, this is just the bare minimum you can do to be of use
when I was a tenants rights lawyer, I got invited into a lot of movement spaces. even now I still do, because of that work. my identity as a cishet white square-ass white dude does not seem to have ever once been an issue. why? you have to demonstrate humility in those spaces.
right before covid I was working with a local group on tenant protections, and there was one (1) white dude who:

- came to every meeting
- listened and asked occasional thoughtful questions
- DID THE DISHES after every meeting (we were always in somebody's house)

EVERYBODY loved that dude.

I see it's time to talk about heat waves and caffeine again. All right fine, let's do this. The fundamental problem with coffee in a heat wave is not dehydration!

Hundreds of thousands told not to drink coffee in 2 states
A heat wave is expected to send temperatures into the triple digits in parts of Nevada and California.

In my effort to make my art even less digital, I have started building an analog texture library. I got one of those $15 black and white printer cameras, and I’m using it as an excuse to look artistically at things that aren’t my screen.

Fuck AI.

DIY all the way.

A neighbor was taken to a care facility, and her little tortoiseshell kitty was left behind. I can't take her in but I've been feeding her and giving her water every day. No one in the neighbor's family can take her in. Is there anyone in the Inland Empire area that could foster or adopt her?

No. No. No.

Punitive processes make narrowly targeted programs *less* efficient and *more* costly. Because more scrutiny requires more bureaucracy.

Punitive processes also make it *less* likely that people will get aid for which they qualify. Because of the roadblocks and stigma scrutiny creates.

This is it. "What do you think calling your electeds will do?"

Make them feel about me the same way everyone who's ever defaulted on student loans feels about their voicemail.
Ask not what your representative will do for you (nothing), ask how you can make your representative so miserable they quit their job
My attitude on this is that I'm not calling them because I think I can change their minds.

I'm calling them because it is unthinkable to let them do this without hearing how evil and awful they are.

My spite powers me. If I can get just 500 people a day to join me, we could fuck up their day.

There are some typos in this 🧵, my apologies, it is very late

I think my points are clear enough—it boils down to this: there's some chance that making phone calls demanding a stop to this could help save some number of lives. I think that's worth trying. Call your MoC & Senators, whoever they are.

And then they're going to be like "How did we get here?" and "Well obviously we have tried to be too decent and we should shift to being meaner" even though they actually did not try to be decent at all and were fine letting that Overton Window shift and shift and shift.

It's not great having to ask for help - but if you've enjoyed any of our books, we'd be hugely grateful if you could let people know about them (and where you can buy them)

Word of mouth is... pretty important, right now

Today I looked at PodcastAddict and realized the #TheGhostsOnThisRoad ep was *not* one I'd downloaded for a comfort listen.

Linda Wojtowick writes, she and Soren Narnia (Knifepoint Horror) narrate - it's lovely and strange and so worth your time. theghostsonthisroad.podbean.com #podcast #horror

"...and a few million years later the universe arranged itself according to trillions-to-one odds so that you can exist and, somehow, instead of living in a perpetual state of wonder and gratitude, you get annoyed that we ran out of toilet paper."

Lovely. Give it a read.
