Minnesotans showed up & showed out today to help our Twin Cities neighbors in need, at our Northeast Minneapolis food drive this morning.

Over 800+ community members reached out to help support with purchasing, sorting, organizing, and delivering groceries to ~125 families. My heart is so so full.

Mubashir and his family came to the United States as refugees from Ethiopia when he was a child, and they all became naturalized citizens in 2019.

Despite being a U.S. citizen, Mubashir was targeted by ICE, assaulted, and detained. Listen to his story:

Two community members stand on the street corner of Central Ave and 18th St, watching over a local business in 5° temps with a wind chill of -15°. They are patrolling the area, keeping an eye out for ICE activity, doing what they can to protect their immigrant neighbors.

It is courage, but it’s ordinary courage. What Minneapolis is doing can happen anywhere. The alternative—ignoring the thousands of masked men with machine guns kidnapping and killing in broad daylight—is simply impossible.
If (when?) this happens in my city, may I have a tenth of this courage.
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.

This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

As Ted Cruz urges a seizure that will break NATO, remember the two Senators viewed as orchestrators of Trump's Jan 6 plan were Cruz and Josh Hawley - both political proteges of Peter Thiel. Neither has ever broken with Thiel, or with Trump. Both, like all Thiel avatars, push Putin's interests. 1/
Cruz: "When it comes to Greenland, I want to commend President Trump for being single-mindedly focused on America first... I believe it is overwhelmingly in America's national interest to acquire Greenland... the whole history of America has been a history of acquiring new lands and new territories"

The government’s standard of conduct should be measured against serial killers according to the government.
KARL: Watch this video of a woman who says she's disabled getting dealt with by ICE. What do you think?

McCAUL: Well, the optics aren't good

K: They smashed her windows & threw her to the ground

M: It appears to be a little overzealous, but what about the actions of murderers & drug traffickers?

They're investigating the victim's wife, the victim's friends, the mayor and the governor too, but no, they're not even going to glance in the direction of the murderer.
BREAM: Is the FBI investigating the ICE agent who shot Renee Good?

BLANCHE: What happened has been reviewed by millions of Americans bc it was recorded. We investigate when it's appropriate. That is not the case here. We are not going to bow to pressure. So no, we are not investigating.

the dominant "rapid response" group in DC is deliberately discouraging the use of whistles and offering no alternative system to alert people who are in immediate danger. wrecker behavior at best, at worst infiltration.

“The fabled white panther of the upper Midwest is rarely captured on camera, but has been known to respond to the distress calls of its community…”
With masked armed federal agents sitting at the corner and circling the St. Paul neighborhood for quite some time, about 50-100 neighbors came out to blow whistles. This man says this is his neighborhood and thanks everyone who came out.

The agents have all left.

Something to keep in mind here is that for Trump, the map is more real than the territory. If he can put his big blue mark on the map, who cares if he's taking advantage of a distortion of the territories' true sizes? This is a man who deals wholly in appearances.
This is such a cool illustration of how the Mercator map distorts the size of Greenland, which looks as big as the whole continent of Africa on that map but is actually the size of Mexico.

even moderate members of congress are finally realizing that the BS they've been sold about centrism from the democratic consultant industrial complex fails to account for uncertainty or shifting public opinion, and thus has zero external validity here in the real world. let me just say: welcome!

Gallego ("moderate" Dem) is going with "ICE needs to be totally torn down" (not "reform and retrain"). This is a pivot point for the country on immigration. You have been seeing this in the data for a while, and now officials are snapping to the public opinion www.gelliottmorris.com/p/ice-is-a-7...

Thanks. We have folks in our community giving vulnerable students rides to school, and a teacher shared that they were putting small stuffed animals on their dashboards to help kids identify safe cars. ICE picked up on it and started doing the same. Horrifying.

the absurd thing about this is that it is actually really quite easy to make a tonally moderate argument for abolishing ICE (eg we need to enforce our immigration laws and ICE is no longer a credible law enforcement agency) but Dems still act perplexed
“I don’t think the president’s personal militia recruited from white supremacist gangs can be reformed” shouldn’t be a controversial statement, or taken as anything but an obvious statement of fact, and yet here we are.
