This is a solid analysis, and a good counterpoint to some of the more knee-jerk reactions floating about. Very worth a read.

If you like California wines, bourbon, or Old Jerry or Kraken rum, here's your chance to stock up without actually giving any money to the USA
NSLC will sell of its remaining stock of U.S. booze and give the net profits to Feed Nova Scotia and other community food programs. #NovaScotia

The last few days have reinforced my thesis that TSLA's price really wants to be 420.69.

(It should probably be much lower though, maybe 88.14?)

oh this is absolutely what i think. i think they feed him fake polls and outright AI slop
At this point, I wonder if he isn't lying when he says he has "my highest Poll Numbers, ever" since it's entirely possible that's what his aides are telling him. It's quite likely that there's an entire Potemkin village built around Trump right now.
Trump responds to a detailed report about his waning energy and propensity to sleep through on-camera events by calling the New York Times's Katie Rogers ugly

Ugh CBC this is sort of a silly article anyhow, but no don't just ask ChatGPT - especially since you're already interviewing actual experts.

"So we asked ChatGPT" is *NEVER* news!

I'd argue that this interview was just giving this annoying mediocre guy yet more undeserved reach and exposure, but at least Jen got this solid shot in.
I just want to point out that she pushed him and had this great line:

Gerson: “What I thought was really interesting about that column: at no point did you stop to consider whether or not America was a country worth joining.”

Douthat: “I did not.”

Gerson: “Which is a very American thing to do.”
Oh please just fuck off

This is also why you should leave your bottom coat button open
when trying on pants, do this in the store. then tell the sales associate "the menswear guy told me to do this."

y'know, if tech companies weren't so fired up to call every single thing "AI" it would be a lot easier to distinguish "ML spam filter that is well-sandboxed and tuned on your emails" from "giant context and IP-eroding foundation model that makes people paranoid and unhappy"
since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.

13k comments on one tweet is a massive payout. All of the tweets follow a certain formula, so the content is likely automated using AI technology (e.g., AI generated images and text). Basically running it as a money printing machine. But for those in the US, it translates to low simmering rage.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

I didn't jump on this because I didn't want to argue with people, but... yes — Google's AI is not reading your email anymore than they _always_ are. But if you're worried about your privacy with Google? *Don't use their email*! They have literally always been gathering data on you.
Turns out this was all much ado about nothing and Google isn’t using your Gmail to train AI and if wanna turn all that stuff back on you can get your spam filters back
Looks like the article has been updated to suggest maybe they misread the policy.

I see people complaining that this also disabled their spam filters, though I still see new messages showing up in spam so it's still working fine for me after disabling things.

Mamdani has got to be a more fun hang than Miller & Vance & RFK & Thiel and the rest of those weirdos.

He should team up with Carney - the combo of mildly funny patrician banker guy and young charmer could turn Trump right around
Mamdani is going to bring him that snowglobe that plays "Memories" from CATS and we're going to get government grocery stores nationwide
