The rule of law completely abandoned. Untrained, masked agents get to determine your fate. As in one hundred other areas, Trump will likely lose this lawsuit, but remedies will take years. This agency needs to be stripped to the foundation, abolished, but first we need a public reckoning.
A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

It’s why I’m viscerally disgusted by people overly blaming voters. People take cues from their electeds and they certainly aren’t acting with any fucking urgency

the demands schumer laid out, in light of existing rules and current ICE practices, are not a serious effort at modifying ICE’s behavior in any meaningful sense. they’re an attempt to mollify the base with meaningless bullshit without actually changing anything so they can move on to affordability

This is just protestant work ethic but you cut out the part where you go to church and socialize and check in on your community.

This is unconscionable. Evil.

But it happened in May 2023, when Biden was president.

So no, we don’t “reform immigration detention,” we destroy ICE, CBP, and DHS. We can’t reform this soul sickness.
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.

Very little if anything seems to have changed on the ground. ICE is still out there terrorizing neighborhoods and trying to disappear neighbors. None of us on the ground are buying this bullshit. We will keep organizing and fighting.
The intense fallout from the killing of Alex Pretti has forced President Trump to publicly change course in Minneapolis.

Listen to our White House reporters discuss the changes on today's episode of "The Daily."
Trump Changes Course in Minneapolis
The White House has been met with broad outcry over the killing of Alex Pretti, as well as pushback from Congress.

every "good" Democrat is still looking for an off-ramp that lets them avoid arresting their Republican buddies & subjecting them to Nuremberg trials; it's the whole reason Trump was able to run for reelection after staging an attempted coup!
Homan may present as less cartoonishly fash-cringe than li’l Bovie - though honestly, I think he’s not far off - but he is every bit the ethnic cleansing zealot. He may even be more dangerous because: smarter and slightly (?) more presentable. Walz sure let down his guard.

Do we really have to go through some mandatory period where we all pretend that Homan is ANY better than Bovino? The man’s a scumbag, literally the architect of the family separation policy that abducted 5 year old Liam Ramos from his community in MN and put him in a concentration camp in TX.

MAGA is defined by its total lack of a theory of mind for its enemies, and the fact that DHS and ICE still haven't wrapped their brains around the fact that their opponents also are able to highly effectively use the Internet to message, organize, and communicate really highlights that.

One thing I see liberal outlets giving ground on that I feel the need to correct: it’s impossible to “dox” a paid public official
By simply reporting their name, institutional role, and political affiliations

Why do you think reactionary politics is inevitably attended by a comical level of graft & scam? Why do pastors steal their parishoners money? Why did Rush Limbaugh sell gold?

It's because they all know that they are targeting the dumbest people on fucking earth.

Knowing fucking anything is "professorial" and "condescending." Only a level of ignorance & belligerence that matches the dumbest 20% of the population is truly authentic.

This is why the GOP is full of rich nepo-baby Ivy league graduates trying their level best to act as stupid as they can.

The US Holocaust Museum being more outraged by Tim Walz saying that, like Anne Frank, children today are in hiding from armed agents of the state, than they are about the fact that children are in hiding from armed agents of the state, is why Holocaust remembrance culture is in crisis.

If Dems are squeamish about "abolish," fine, the demand is still simple: zero funding for ICE and CBP.

Pretend you just want a "pause" to "sort it out." Whatever.

But, yeah, "do not vote to fund murder and other rampant lawbreaking by Trump's gestapo" is indeed a "purity test" you must pass.
NEW: Minnesota's top federal judge says ICE has been violating court orders repeatedly — detaining noncitizens or rushing them to Texas despite judges' commands.

He wants ICE's director to answer for it "personally," and could level contempt sanctions.

rightwingers see people caring about others in their community and instead of finding that inspiring they think it’s some sort of grand conspiracy because they don’t understand what it means to care for others you don’t personally know

This means that they are all guilty
This can’t be repeated enough. Not only won’t they investigate, they may never even tell us who did this.

Think about the message that sends to the next ones. Nobody is safe.
