(I can't emphasize enough the weird-ass fact that corn flakes and graham crackers were both developed as part of an anti-masturbation campaign by some of the weirdest freaks who thought the problem with the world was – and i'm not making this up - too much flavor.)

Tidal is a good alternative and it is easy to move over your playlists - the also don't advertise for ICE
Spotify has laid off thousands in recent years, while reportedly paying artists $0.003 per stream.

Spotify profits rose 28% in Q3. Its CEO is worth $9.8 billion. It's making money off ICE recruitment ads.

Don't you think it's time put a wrap on corporate greed and exploitation?

This is correct.

Even *if* this were an actual war… the people they have killed aren’t legitimate targets.

Which is murder, no matter how you look at it.

I'm begging any artists still using Twitter claiming it's integral to their work to just leave. It's been revealed the site works off a made up "credit score" from hell and punishes you for posting like a normal human being.

Abandon Twitter for good. It's time. It's been time.

You should read this. It's strange and haunting and surprisingly uplifting. Shipp has a real knack for unsettling imagery that will stick with you, and this is a great opportunity to get introduced to their work.
Hey Bluesky peeps, could you help spread the word?

My Shirley Jackson Award-nominated gothic fiction book THE ATROCITIES is on sale today for $1.99 on Kindle. I have no idea how long this sale will last.

A singer-songwriter friend would like people to know that while boycotting Spotify is great, it was also 16% of their income that is now cratering. So if you're cancelling Spotify, please pair that with buying music, merch, or live tickets directly from your favorite artists

Suppose that when plastic was invented, rather than rushing to manufacture, inventors stopped to think ahead, saw the dangers, possibilities, held off long enough to develop sustainable alternatives. What vast problems would we now NOT be troubled by? A product that pollutes is only half invented.

My kids keep begging for an elf to visit our house like they do their friends’ houses but like I’m sorry you will not be pleased when you wake up and the milk has curdled and our cattle die of miasma exposure but that’s what happens when you invite the duine uasal into your home.

There's this constant discourse about how "the left" (whoever that is) has to stop being condescending and speak directly to men's issues. But these gurus are, without fail, more condescending to men than any feminist or SJW I've ever met.

After a pause, we are once again accepting pitches for games.
If you've designed a TTRPG (especially one built on PbtA, Forged in the Dark, or Fate) that's near-complete, you can find details about how to pitch us (and the services we provide) here:

Very similar to the trans-kids panic, where the prestige media narrative is that it's far too easy but you talk to any trans person, expert or parent and it's obvious that it's way too hard.
Once again, no one making these claims seems to understand the enormous hurdles in the way of getting a kid the help they need - in this case - I dare anyone suggesting this to go through an IEP process.

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

Reminder that Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

And we're supposed to believe Starbucks can't afford to bargain a fair contract with its unionized workers?
