One of my worst: A reviewer wrote "I fear that this paper will get accepted just because of Brian's persistence." Ouch.

After the 3rd R-and-R, I asked the editor to decide. Reject.

I immediately sent it to another journal and it was accepted 1st round and won an award.

Persistence muthafuckas.

Every academic career is built on rejection, but we don’t show it.

CVs list publications, grants & awards, not rejected manuscripts, unfunded proposals, or failures.

But those invisible rejections shape us more than our successes ever do.

Serious proposal: No Kings on the 18th should be a Halloween dress up party.
jamellebouie.net
one response to this (correct) observation is to say “well, the cops will attack you no matter how you dress and behave.” that’s right. images of cops and ICE beating grandmas and kids in inflatable frog costumes is a win for the opposition.
sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com
one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

Spoke to soon it appears. The fix produced a different problem so they rolled back and will fix it tomorrow. I will delete the original post.

PSA: seems like the update broke the ability to directly download files with a link, like osf.io/XXXX/download this lead to an error in one of my R package vignettes, and presumably will break lots of code.

Metascientists: Did you know that OSF search improvements make it much easier to study preregistration?

If you search registrations osf.io/search?resou...

and then click on "has related resource" you can, for example, narrow the search to those that shared data, linked a paper, or both.
