Hey, y'all! My name is Viet, and I'm hoping to find like-minded folks and friendly faces here on Bluesky as I migrate away from Twitter/X.

I like basketball, cats, longboarding, video games, and D&D. I fancy myself an open-minded dude, and I've tried my hand at a few fun things over the years.

I had a lot of convos with people who said they were sympathetic, but Defund the Police was a "bad slogan". I told them it wasn't a slogan. It was an answer. It was an answer to the constant question "what can we do to actually lower crime and make our neighborhood's safer?"

Anyway. Here we are.

The Virginia Senate just told UVA it’s not getting state funding if it accepts the compact since UVA exists to serve Virginia, its residents, & their interests—not be a tool of the federal govt. I teach a history of antifascism course @ruhistorydept.bsky.social and figured I'd start an ongoing thread this semester to share some insights from course readings and recommend some great works on antifascism.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that all these data centers are going into communities that have been historically targeted for exploitation and have the least amount of civic power wielded by the people living there.

Why Are Plans for This Alabama Data Center So Hush-Hush?
Officials in Bessemer, Alabama, are mum on Project Marvel, a proposed data center the size of 18 Walmart Supercenters.

Back on my bullshit, and my bullshit involves looking dang good.
An Asian dude with amber sunglasses, headphones, and a baseball cap that says “LACAB” stands in front of a park in a downtown area.

We tried to get into the Chad Powers TV show on Hulu, but they used the same slur as a punchline like 4 times in 5 minutes so we dipped pretty fast after that.

Weird thing where people say “no one could have predicted it” when really what they mean is their political commitments and orientation were such that they ignored everyone who was predicting it

Sorry but “no one could have“ and you having your head stuck up your ass are two different situations
