Quick question: Could someone explain why there is always so much shit to do?
You guys! My colleagues are so talented! Look how @drmendozan.bsky.social captured Ruthie on her squirrel murder perch
🐶🔪🐿️
Still catching up on #inktober2025
Oct 14

This one’s for @drhonor.bsky.social

Natalie’s ink drawing of Ruthie: back of sweet brown puppy sitting on a porch looking out into the yard. We call this “Ruthie’s Murder Perch.”
Omg I’m in love with this 🥰 You are so talented!
Me: “So, Thomas Paine was very clear: ‘No Kings.’”

Also me: “Is this going to get me fired?”
Has a very pleasant dream about body surfing with giant, friendly beluga whales. Please interpret 🐋
Richmond, Virginia, 1790s
That’s what I needed!
Hey, nerds: What is this name? I really want it to be John Brown, with some kind of flourish at the end to indicate he was clerk of court. Is that a thing? How do you interpret the end of this name?
The algorithm just served up blanket pants and I am 💯 percent here for this.
First time ever in Baltimore. Damn I wish I could take advantage of a run at sea-level 🏃‍♀️
Thank you to all the tireless, long-suffering air traffic controllers who got us to Baltimore without any unaliving.
Trying to make it through a busy international airport on a Sunday morning during a government shutdown with a broken foot while monitors doomscroll the shittiest news from the stupidest administration makes you really start to think, “you know, maybe humanity has run its course.”
Portland protesters blasting Yakety Sax at Kristie Noem as she walked around the roof of the ICE building is resistance sublime.
I'm teaching the Boston Massacre tomorrow and it just feels surreal.
All of Ruthie’s pictures from daycare look like she’s an English orphan asking for more porridge.
Super easy to write. Much easier than an iPad. Don’t really know about getting things off of it. I don’t do that.
Not the pro version. I don't recall if I subscribed or not, honestly. I don't think I did. I just love it for keeping notes. I used to have notebooks floating all over the place. Now everything is in one place.
Just in case you are thinking about it, please know that the reMarkable is totally worth every penny.
Historian friends: I have an honors students writing a thesis about needlework samplers by Indigenous girls at mission school in the 1830s. I don't know much about the scholarship on boarding and mission schools in this early period (other than Snyder and Demos). Any thoughts?

I’m finding it very hard to live with the knowledge that our nation’s highest military official recalled career generals from their jobs around the globe just to tell them “don’t be fat,” while somehow I still have to teach today.
While Hegseth says the nation is under siege by woke, he made fairly clear today that America’s biggest threat is cringe.
