My dishwasher broke so I’m shopping for a newer model. Now we have to deal with bullshit like this. WTF is “AI Intelligent Wash” doing in my dishwasher. How about we just concentrate on making shit work instead of making it dumber and shittier with useless robot shit.

I’m sorry if I owe you an email.

Would like to thank whoever first tossed a scrap of food to a wolf. Really can’t imagine how I’d be getting by if you hadn’t taken that first step.

Made some scones for my mental health. Added some mesquite bean flour for kicks.

New end-of-days plan: I’ve decided to become one of those people who always has fresh flowers in the house.

Hey, nerds: What is this name? I really want it to be John Brown, with some kind of flourish at the end to indicate he was clerk of court. Is that a thing? How do you interpret the end of this name?

The algorithm just served up blanket pants and I am 💯 percent here for this.

All of Ruthie’s pictures from daycare look like she’s an English orphan asking for more porridge.

I find it funny that the History Department supplies are paper and envelopes, while Philosophy Department supplies are Kleenex and Advil.

Gonna tell my grandkids this is Mt. Rushmore.

It’s been a couple of years since I read this last and just finished it for my grad sem. Goddamn what an absolute banger of a book this is 🔥

While our public discourse sucks, it’s important to remember the spaces where our discourse is still awesome! Here’s my grad seminar in early America. Really tried to get students to think about historiography and how scholars engage with each other over time.

Re-upping this one for, you know, no particular reason today.

I grew way more greens than any human can possibly consume, so I tried dehydrating some of them and made my own power green powder. This one is collards, broccoli leaves, and carrot tops. So satisfying.

Sometimes I feel like Ruthie can see my soul. Sometimes I just think she wants dinner.

Broke my foot exactly six weeks ago today. A freak accident, just a single misstep on a bad sidewalk. Four weeks on crutches, two weeks in a boot, and today I took a first few steps in a sturdy shoe. Doesn’t feel great honestly, but I don’t think I’ll feel normal for a while. At least it’s progress.
