i think this is why Charlie Kirk's death shook the right so much. For all their prognosticating about how "ackshually libs are the violent ones", left violence is extremely low, so A. the fact it happened freaked them out, and B. "don't you liberals know We're The Ones With The Guns" is load-bearing
to so many of them, in a similar manner, the realization of them being on the receiving end of the violence, not just being the ones directing and pointing it, was inconceivable; especially to be done by /generic people/ - doubly so that it could be primed by their own rhetoric calls for violence

Trump/Vance/Hegseth ordered live fire 155mm rounds shot from a M777 Howitzer over busy I-5 highway as a stunt to try and disrupt the No Kings protest.

The official date for the Marine Corps 250th anniversary is November 10, 2025. Vile degenerates.

I don't think a lot of people have fully grappled with the implications of "they're making content for the base by blowing up boats and murdering people" and the fact that Trump is a Fox News grandpa consuming that content
Q: The Columbian president says that the US killed an innocent Columbia fisherman

TRUMP: He said that when we shot down a submarine that they were just fishing. This was a submarine that was meant for one reason -- to carry massive amounts of drugs

Q: He's talking about a previous strike

have long suspected that trump thinks the insurrection act is an instant "i win" cheat code that make his opposition go away
Trump: "I'm allowed as you know as president, like 50% of the presidents have used the Insurrection Act. Everybody agrees you're allowed to use that and there is no more court cases, there is no more anything. We're trying to do it in a nicer manner, but we can always use the Insurrection Act."

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

The president of the United States is destroying constitutional government and literally calling himself a king and the pathetic journalistic and political class of this country is busy winding itself into circular meta-debates over the correct way to perform their reaction or nonreaction to it.

it is crazy that "the president's personal defense attorney arranged for Ghislaine Maxwell to be transferred to the federal equivalent of a resort in exchange for her official statement that Trump was not involved in fucking children" was a one-day back page story

this is why i think that successfully prosecuting trump would have ended trumpism. what he is selling -- especially this second time around -- is the same fantasy of utter impunity which Doug Wilson has substituted for Christianity.
Could not be clearer that we’re in a moment of almost universal elite rebellion against any kind of restriction or limit. You saw this shift in all the rhetoric too; Trump I was all about the little guy but everyone dropped that and started talking about grindset and being “aristocratic.”
one interesting thing is the collapse of mass support for trump before he took office. his in-person events were sparsely attended. his conventional fundraising (donations in the dollar to thousand dollar range) was more or less nonexistent.

Trump I was a grassroots phenomenon. Trump II was elite.

This should be an Iran-Contra level scandal and I don’t even know if it will make the front page in this news environment
This story is extraordinary even by 2025 standards. Marco Rubio, the nation's top diplomat, made a deal with Bukele and agreed to renege on informant agreements in a years-long DOJ investigation into MS-13, totally undercutting credibility of such agreements.

Rubio promised to betray U.S. informants to get Trump’s El Salvador prison deal
To secure U.S. access to President Nayib Bukele’s notorious CECOT prison, Rubio agreed to turn over several MS-13 leaders central to a long-running Justice Department investigation.

I hope he keeps doing it

Can the Times et al actually explain their coverage priorities, even internally? How is it that any hint of denigration of Americans by a Dem is front-page news, but the president publishing video in which he calls himself "King Trump" and flies a plane dumping sewage on Americans' heads NOT news?

This is just straight-up treason by rubio, he's wrecking our ability to fight organized crime in order to help bukele cover up his apparently cozy relationship with MS-13 leadership and possible theft of us foreign aid, all so trump et al can get photos of us sending hairdressers to torture prison

Zero ambiguity here, folks. Trump is now threatening to use the “unquestioned power” of the Insurrection Act under the phony (and unconstitutional) pretense of fighting crime in cities
Trump: "Don't forget I can use the Insurrection Act. 50% of the presidents almost have used that. And that's unquestioned power."

One of the reasons the "paid protestors" canard is absurd is it completely misunderstands scale. There were 5.5-8.7 mm people protesting yesterday. For comparison the company with the largest payroll in the world (Walmart) has 2.1 mm employees, less than half the low-side estimate for No Kings.
It’s going to take ages to pay all these people

The horrific thing is, as much of a nasty shit as Kirk already was, he absolutely could have broken w/ Trump over the stolen election lies.

And he'd have survived. He was big enough and talented enough, and he would've been welcomed with open arms by contrarian centrists.

But he *wanted* a despot.
That one was genuinely insane given that Kirk literally paid to bus people to Jan. 6.

UPDATE: COLOMBIA’s President says 🇺🇸 government (Trump) “committed murder” and bombed a fisherman with no ties to drugs

“The boat was adrift and had its distress signal up due to an engine failure”
I encourage it, I think Trump personally flying a fighter jet would make the country a better place
