we taught you how to grow corn, now let's all learn to block lakota manicotti once and for all

I am seeing a lot of people reposting Lakota Man today bc it's Indigenous Peoples Day. A reminder that he is not well liked amongst many (most?) Natives on social media. Many of us blocked him a long time ago. Some of the reasons why are in this article.

www.dailydot.com/irl/lakotama...
Who is LakotaMan, the user behind one of the most popular Native American accounts on X?
John Martin is adored by white X users—but infamous among Native and Indigenous communities.

Trick question.

America was always a terrorist state.

Just ask Indigenous people on Indigenous Peoples' Day.
sarcasmoultrablam.bsky.social
So, how did the people who were supposed to protect Americans from terrorists..BECOME THE TERRORISTS THEMSELVES??
tumblesweed.bsky.social
oh yea. A bigot is going to steamroll on this too.
tumblesweed.bsky.social
i should add that i did the work to help him get here. i talked and argued and even cut him off several times for years. i set boundaries around behaviors and statements that are allowed around me and my kids. i gave him recommendations for reading and other media. he chose to do better and learn.

absolutely bananas to me that i finally have an actual healthy relationship with my father, something i wanted my whole life.
tumblesweed.bsky.social
my dad has been a terrible racist, classist, sexist white man boomer for most of my life. in the last ten years, while in his 60s and 70s, he has unlearned a lot of this and can both admit when he is wrong and maturely communicate through conflict. He quit drinking too. Old dog has new tricks.

Our fight is to make Indigenous People’s Day every single day.
For this to happen, we must end settler colonialism entirely.

This means toppling Empire, LandBack, and also, defeating the internal colonizer in our minds.

Fuck Gavin Newsom.
madycast.com
Newsom vetoes both the PreP access and the HRT stockpile bill because he is worried it would increase healthcare costs...

He claims to support the aims of these bills. But the vetoes deny access to medical care for queer people.

(Context: He vetoed these 2 while signing 8 other queer rights bills)
transnews.network
He also signed SB 590, which bolsters paid family leave.

Read his veto messages here:

On this Indigenous Peoples Day, Fruities would like to share about the indigenous concept of "two-spirit" and highlight indigenous members of our team! Today is a great day to support indigenous business, read stories from indigenous people, and engage with indigenous content creators.
Information poster with text:
Honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day
Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday in the United States that celebrates and honors Indigenous people and commemorates their histories and cultures.
Indigenous people and LGBTQ+ history
Historically, LGBTQ+ Native Americans used terms for gender-related social roles unique to their specific tribe and tribal language. For many tribes, people were historically defined more by their roles in relation to their partner and their tribe, and viewing people as simply male or female was an idea first introduced by colonists.
Two-spirit is an English term that emerged in 1990 to describe Indigenous North Americans who fulfill one of many mixed gender roles found traditionally among indgenous groups. Male and female Two-Spirits have been documented in over 130 tribes, in every region of North America.
Two-Spirits have had distinct gender and social roles in their tribes.
They could have been:
Healers
Special role players in sundance or other ceremonies
Medicine persons
Convyers of oral traiditions
Name givers
Caregivers for orphaned children

If you didn’t know, Alaska has been hit by a massive storm, causing severe flooding. Many Indigenous villages have been completely wiped out, with some houses floating away with PEOPLE INSIDE THEM. Please keep posting to spread the info. They need help.
newseye.bsky.social
These are mostly indigenous communities in Alaska that have been slammed by the storm.

The local manager of a small airline fleet says he is the only one doing evacuations right now!

Defund FEMA and people are abandoned. Defund public media and no-one knows.

FYI, today is Indigenous Peoples Day.

why you should not tokenize us. Some of us are more radical; some are not. We are your neighbors or live in communities you'll never see. Don't conflate us. Instead, listen to our many voices and know that the only real allyship is to give the land back.

Hello, new followers. Welcome. A reminder that Native and Indigenous peoples are not monoliths. We have different spiritual beliefs, cosmologies, traditions, and languages. Some of us are also Black, white, Asian, and/or from beyond Western borders. We don't speak for our nations or tribes which is
