You cannot run a business model on "Eventually we'll make a profit some day", like the tech industry has post-2009, when you can no longer rely on the infinite money glitch.

This is probably the main reason why Trump is pushing so hard on lowering interest rates.
The tech industry is using AI as a smokescreen for two facts - 1) Interest rates are no longer at Free Money levels. 2) The tech industry massively overhired during Covid thinking that the lockdown boom in online services was perpetual.
Those are the reasons that they're pushing huge layoffs.
Amazon is laying off a huge swath of their workforce because they say that while "AI agents" that can replace them don't yet exist, they "will soon". Couple things:
PASOKification intensifies.
Our latest Westminster voting intention (26-27 Oct) has Labour on their lowest figure ever recorded by YouGov, with the Greens on their highest

Reform UK: 27% (+1 from 19-20 Oct)
Labour: 17% (-3)
Conservatives: 17% (=)
Greens: 16% (+1)
Lib Dems: 15% (=)
SNP: 3% (-1)

That's racism. Plain and simple.

No other word for it.

It's shocking beyond belief that this sort of thing is somehow acceptable.
Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin, “It drives me mad seeing adverts full of black people, full of Asian people, full of anything other than white"

Followed by that time Sarah Pochin said, "My kids say: mum, you're such a moron" 👀

I know this is obvious. And I know we all know this.
But if the President can raise taxes because an advert annoyed him, without even consulting Congress, then the US constitution is simply not functioning as intended.

and another thing: he’s not mad. please don’t put it in the newspaper that he got mad.
I really wanted to like the Cairn demo - but they really decided that style was more important than legibility or communication of information to the player.

Good piece. Growing threat to Labour from Greens on the left flank has been evident for a number of years now - clear in local election results, in polling, and in last year's general election. Polanski has increased this by (a) boost membership - crucial reource (b) increasing attention to Greens

Levels of bad faith on the right must be really high for Fraser Nelson to break ranks.

Suspect this would be highly variable by type of business. For example, polling usually finds windfall taxes on energy companies popular. People think big business should pay costs of climate action.
Britons tend to believe that businesses are already taxed too much, as the Chamber of Commerce urges Rachel Reeves not to raise business taxes in next month's budget

Too high: 41%
About right: 18%
Too low: 14%

Nvidia App vs Nvidia Control Panel is the *perfect* example of the sort of UI design failure I always complain about.
The Nvidia App is built around aEstHetIc considerations - the control panel is pure engineering functionality.
Oh wow, my functions are colour coded, but I can't cursor with the keyboard because someone decided that ➡️ means I want to skip over my parentheses?!?
Bring back the era of ugly, functional UIs created by programmers.
Whoever is in charge of Excel's UI team needs to find another job. The obsession with aesthetics over functionality is really deteriorating the user experience.

It is frankly strange to be this obsessed with college if you no longer attend one and do not work in education. More people in legacy media need to be told that.
And who is the author of this op-ed? The billionaire CEO of an asset management firm who helped author the compact.

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

Badenoch's brain should be studied. Visibly believes that she has put the hours in working while all her policy suggestions are just obviously picked up on Twitter without any critical thought before they end up as policy. Visibly confused as to who was in office 2010 to 2024.
"while we were arguing about what a woman is, china was building five nuclear reactors"

Yes but that is very explicitly your fault, more than most, kemi.

She's such a strange perception of herself
Badenoch moved to the UK in 1996 - so is she talking about her experience under New Labour?
"We used to ring up our GP and get an appointment on the same day," says Kemi Badenoch. She does not add: we're all looking for the guy who did this!
